Fandom High Prom - Part I

City Hall is aglow with the light from the torches. Streamers in blue and yellow line the way for students towards the ballroom. Inside, hangings and other decorations represent the Lost Cities. A working volcano stands in Krakatoa's corner. Seven DVD players are projecting 3D images of the cities as well. And streamers, glitter, candles, balloons, and lights are everywhere.

Prom has begun.

Chloe made her way into the Town Hall, with Weevil at her side. She wished she could say that this prom would be nothing like her last one in Smallville, with the ghostly possession and all, but she couldn't say she hadn't seen stranger things here before.

At least she didn't have to worry about her date deserting her for Lana. It was nice to know that some things could change.

"Fancy," Cameron said as looked up at the background.

Anders shows up holding Cally's hand and beaming like the happiest boy in the universe. He could argue that he does, in fact, feel like the happiest boy in the universe right now.

"Ladies and gentlemen, Fandom High's reigning cutest couple has arrived," he says, squeezing her hand.

Faithful and Min trotted into the ballroom. Faithful was in a black bowtie and Min had an Orchid corsage around her collar.

Barry takes the stage, and motions to his band. Including a guitarist who looks... a lot like Barry.

Barry: "Alright kids, we are Barry Jive and the Uptown Five. We've got a whole bunch of great musicians you've never heard of and on guitar, a little handsome guy you might know as former Principal Finn. How about a round of applause for Dewey, huh?"

Dewey: "Thanks kids. We're gonna kick things off tonight with a little song by Cheap Trick. It's called Surrender. Kick us off, Barry?"

And so they perform their first number.

Dewey signals a drumroll, and he pulls an envelope out of his jacket.

Dewey: "Okay, now the moment you've probably been wishing you were already drunk for. The announcement of the prom royalty, yadda yadda. You wanna do the honor, Barry?"

Barry grabs the envelope and tears it open.

Barry: "Prom Princess is Aeryn Sun. Everybody clap for her. Prom Prince, not involved with purple rain, that's John Crichton, blah blah, Prom King is Angel. And the person who actually feels accomplished by winning the popularity contest, that's Callisto."

Barry blinks a few times.

Barry: "Okay, just so you know? All your parents were obviously hippies, giving you names like that. Now come up here and get your tiaras, which our rocking bassist will put on your heads."

Dewey: "Nice job, kids. Feel proud, and special. Once every kid gets their crowns, we'll kick into a little song by Rob Thomas. It's called Ever the Same, and I think you'll all agree that you've earned it."
