Coming into work today, Cal was feeling a bit blue.

Literally.

No matter how hard he tried to scrub off the cerulean tint to his skin after being pelted by a few rocks on the way here, it wouldn't go anywhere. So he just gave up after a while and tried to figure out how he could try to explain away this one in his next article.

Cal shrugged a little. "You're not exactly in your culture at the moment, though," he pointed out, not unkindly. Just logically. "Although I'm not surprised."

"Really? I did not notice," Worf said dryly and then added grudgingly. "However I will say there are certain people whose company I prefer over some Klingons. Even if they are blue."

Which was his roundabout way of giving a compliment.

And it was not roundabout enough that Cal didn't pick up on it, and he grinned again. "Look at that," he said, shaking his head. "I haven't seen you in a few weeks, and you manage to pick up please, sarcasm, and subtly all without me."

"I don't know what you mean," Worf replied, even though his manner seemed to say otherwise. "I've always been aware of those concepts."

"Okay, fine," Cal grinned. "You've managed to better utilize them, if you want to get all technical."

Hey... he was almost teasing Cal.

Not that he'd admit it.

Which Cal was unconsciously glad for, considering that, if he knew, he'd probably be fairly weirded out. As it were, however, he nodded in acquiescence. "Of course. We can't have people going around being imprecise on such important matters. How've you been? Survived the weekend, I see, but not the storm."

"Yes. This weekend seemed to be very... dramatic for many people," Worf replied. "However nothing of that sort happened to me."

Deny. Deny. Deny.

He wasn't going to even touch the subject about being pink

"Did anything happen to you this weekend?"

"I found out that I'm my own grandfather."

And that was all about last weekend that Worf needed to know. Still, Cal said it with an almost uncanny sense of pride.
