Morgan was back at the store, back at work, and very much distracting himself from everything thank you very much. So if you needed the handyman, you'd have to shout or ring the bell on the counter because he was in the back workshop finishing up a trellis.

Dani finally had cash to spend at the new hardware store in town. She took a quick look around before ringing the bell on the counter.

Morgan pulled his shirt back on as he came out to help... did he actually have a customer or was it someone checking in on him?

"Hey," he said with a pleasantly surprised smile, "Derek Morgan. How can I help you?"

He didn't really need to put that shirt on, did he? Dani took a good, long look before finding her voice.

"Danielle Davis. It's a pleasure to meet you," she said, extending her hand. "I just bought a house and I need some renovation work done. Also, I'm looking to add some new fenced paddocks at my stable."

Don't worry. The t-shirt doesn't hide much.

He took her hand in a firm, friendly shake.

"Sounds like you came to the right place. What kind of renovation work were you thinking of doing?" he asked, glad he'd finished the shelving unit. Now he had enough time to work on the church before his four days of leave were done with and he should be able to work her request into his usual hours if he could just fine someone to man this place.

...Reid very well might get shanghaied soon enough.

"And how many paddocks are we talking here?"

"There's this big, open space on the ground level of the house that I think is supposed to be a garage, except I really have no need for one on this island," explained Dani. "I've decided to turn it into a wine cellar, so I'll need racks to hold all the wine bottles. As for the paddocks, right now I just need one full-sized one and one smaller fenced enclosure. I recently obtained a family of goats and the little ones keep wandering off."

He rubbed at his chin for a moment before nodding.

"All right. Wine cellar shouldn't be too bad. Wine racks are easy enough, though there's always some of the more high tech units if you wanted me to order 'em through my dealers. The paddock and the fence shouldn't take me too long either.

"You have dimensions for any of this? Plans for materials? I mean, I know what I'd do, but I'm willing to work with you."

"I have some rough sketches, and I added in the measurements I took," said Dani, pulling some plans out of her briefcase. She'd handled most of the maintenance and construction at her family's ranch while her dad was incarcerated.

"I believe the current fencing on the property uses cedar, and I'd like to keep the same look," she added.

"I can do that," he said with a wide smile, holding his hand out for the plans.

"Got a good line on cedar."

He looked around the store for a minute before leaning against the counter.

"I gotta tell you, it's just me doing the work, so it might take a little longer than usual."

"That's not a problem. I'm not in any hurry with the wine cellar," said Dani, handing over the plans. "I'm still trying to furnish most of the house. The small enclosure for the goats is the only high priority item on my list."

"Well, uh, not something I've ever done before, a goat enclosure, but I'll give it a shot."

He considered the amount of work for a moment before glancing over at plans once more. Then he quoted her a very reasonable rate for the work.

It was reasonable, and actually a bit lower than Dani expected. "Sounds good to me," said Dani, nodding. "When would you be able to start?"

He took a look back to the little workshop, quirked his lips, and turned back to her.

"Couple days from now? I've got some work to finish up at the church but I should be good after that."

"That sounds perfect," said Dani. "I'll let my employees at The Gig know that you'll be stopping by."

"Perfect," and he tipped his head to the counter.

"Anything else I can do for you?"

Yeah, he was kind of flirting there.

Dani didn't object to flirting at all.

"Nothing that comes to mind, but I'm sure I'll think of something once I see more of your work," she said, with a fluttering of eyelashes.

Well, well, well.

"Well, I've got one piece if you wanna see it. Nice little trellis."

He tipped his head towards the workroom.

"I think I would like to take a look. Never know when I may need a trellis, right?" said Dani.

After spending some time in the station, Reese went to the hardware shop to buy supplies for some home improvement project.

He made his way out from the back tugging his shirt back on, hoping he didn't look too unprofessional.

"Hey," he greeted her, glad he'd gotten his hands on the towel he had back there for that very reason, "welcome to the store. How can I help you?"

Reese raised her eyebrows at what she was able to glimpse. Damn.

"Yeah, you have a board here I can install on a wall?" Reese gestured how high it needed to be, "A board I can use to write things or pin things on?"

"Bulletin board? Yeah, of course," he said, slipping down one of the aisles.

"Derek Morgan," he said, turning his head with a smile, "this for business or pleasure?"

"A little of both," she told him, following him with her eyes. He was very easy on the eyes. "And I'm Reese, Dani Reese."

He turned around and offered his hand.

"Nice to meet you, Dani."

Reese took it, "Likewise, Derek."

She's not gonna lie. Derek was getting more than Reese's passing interest.

"You one of the veterans around here I haven't met, or you new like me?"

He moved aside a couple of pieces of lumber that someone pulled out, put them back in place and turned to where he kept the corkboard.

"Think this is about what you were looking for?" he asked with a tap to one of the boards.

"You new too?" Reese asked then peered at the board. "Yeah, I think that'd do." It was kinda large to lug around. Not for the first time Reese wished that the streets of Fandom accommodated cars. "You guys deliver?"

He tapped his arm.

"Got your delivery right here. I'm the only employee for this place so, uh, help me lock up and I'll bring this where you need to go."

The eyes tracked the arm intently.

"Yeah, I could do that."

He picked up the board and tilted his head to the front.

"Lemme ring you out and we can go, all right?"

"Yeah, got it," Reese said, paying for the board.
