It wasn't every day that Robin shot tomatoes on her way to work.

Her clothes spattered with vegetable remains and her gun holstered at her hip, she came into Caritas glaring, and immediately opened herself a bottle of scotch.

It was clearly one of Those days.

Damon came into the bar, his shirt covered in tomato guts and looking a little pouty.

"I liked this shirt," he said as he sat down. "Scotch, please."

"Good taste," she decided, pouring him a drink. "Yeah, I hate this vegetable crap."

"Thanks," he said, giving her a smile. "I didn't quite believe people when they were going on about this town being weird but it's hard to ignore it now. Guess I just needed firsthand experience."

"...though I wish the firsthand experience stayed the hell away from my clothes."

"That's a good way of putting it," Damon said, laughing. It sounded perverted, of course he liked it. "And, yeah, I just arrived last week. I'm Damon."

"Robin," she said with a little wave. "Are you finding crap okay? I'm supposed to check on that with the new guys. Part of my job."

"I've been managing pretty well on my own. I've done this new town thing...well, more times than you would think," Damon told her. He paused for a second. "Wait, checking in with the new people is part of the bartender's job? I didn't see that in the handbook."

Metaphorical handbook, of course. The metaphorical handbook named Tino.

"Deputy mayor's," she corrected. "I just bartend 'cause I like it. Free booze and all. But yeah, Deputy Mayor Scherbatsky at your service, should you need it."

Tyler was leading a miniature pony when he got to the bar. "I'm just saying," he said patiently and to the horse. "Normal horses, they get through their lives just fine without booze."

Tony stared at him as if seriously contemplating murder. He could trample Tyler. Just you wait. As soon as the man went to sleep there would be stomping.

Tyler glared right back. He spoke pony-Tony body language rather fluently. "And I'll sell you to the glue factory."

"Sure do. Worked in a couple, drank in more than a couple," Damon said. "And now I work here on weekends. Oddly enough, Chuck never asked about my bartending experience when he hired me."

It was probably obvious what Chuck was focusing on when he hired Damon.

And he was sure Pepper would be upset.

Tony shook his head, snorting indignantly.

Yeah, Robin would have hired him. Robin would have like, hired him as her personal assistant, whose whole job was just to stand around and look hot.

"Chuck's like that," she said, making a face instead.

"I don't suppose you know any good pumpkin pie recipes." Tully said by way of greeting when he came in. He looked like he'd been in a fight with an army of jack-o-lanterns.
