"No." Bo crossed her arms behind the bar and ignored the balloon Tiny was holding out to her. "I already told you my terms. The whole thing or no deal."

Tiny held up his phone in the other hand, then made a show of putting it away. Bo just shook her head.

"No. I don't care if you record me. I'm just not doing it without the quid pro quo." She reached out and bopped the balloon lightly. "Every. Single. Verse."

Which was why anyone visiting the bar tonight, including the guests at Warren and Karla's birthday party, would find themselves treated to a high-pitched -- and very long -- performance of I Am The Very Model Of A Modern Major-General from the huge guy in the leather vest.

Bo's performance, they'd have to be very good at searching YouTube (or know Tiny's username) to find, and also fast enough to get there before Bo filed the fake DMCA takedown notice. Or the obscenity one. She was still trying to decide which seemed more likely coming from Disney.

That seemed about right, anyway. He couldn't think of anything else Karla and Joni had in common.

Claws, the ability to take up more room in the bed than physically possible, the propensity to purr when petted properly...

Okay, it was understandable that Jono wouldn't know about that last one.

"Sometimes you just have to ask yourself if you really needed that item up there, instead of on the floor, possibly in pieces."

She was looking far too pleased with herself right now.

"I have," she assured him. "I was very good and sweet and nice till I met your kitten."

//Mm, yes, I figured as much,// Jono replied. //Just imagine how sad you'll both be when I start spitefully super-gluing everything to the shelves, then.//

Poor Joni. Denied so much.

"Meeeean!" Karla protested, sticking her tongue out at Jono, the brat. "Maybe I won't drink this after all."

//I can probably find somebody else willing to drink a lager for me,// Jono replied, putting his nose in the air. Because apparently Karla wasn't the only one prone to bouts of catlike spite. //Somebody willing to let me be the big spoon, at that.//

... Somebody fireproof?

"Please," Karla snorted. "You liked being the little, tiny teaspoon. When I woke up, you were all curled up and clinging to my arm, snuggling as close to me as possible."

//Lies. Slander.// Jono crossed his arms over his chest and stuck his nose into the air. //I wouldn't do any such thing.//

He would. He had.

Karla was just going to call in her phone and pull up a picture that suggested otherwise.

Neener, neener, neener.

Well. Crap.

//That's clearly a fake,// Jono decided. //You can see where you stuck my picture in. Right there. It's very poorly done, too.//

None of this was true.

"I'll believe you can spot a Photoshoppery when you can prove to me you can Google Photoshop," Karla told him.

//Photoshop? I figured you had just printed it out and cut my photo out with scissors.//

There are totally printers in Kaeleer, right?

"Mother Night, Jono," Karla groaned, shaking her head. "I'm not even from Earth and I know this stuff. You're dreadful."

Jono gave his shoulders a shrug.

//Windows and I have a hate-hate relationship, summed up mostly in blue screens and that little mouse pointer that spends twenty minutes telling me that it's trying to think,// he shared. //If you want somebody who can put together a sonic hard-light emitting collar from spare pieces found sitting around anybody's home, I'm the bloke you're looking for. If you want someone who can figure out how to install something that isn't Internet Explorer, keep looking.//

"You make the internet cry," Karla informed Jono sternly. "Internet Explorer, ugh. Do me a favor, Jono. If you ever get around to discovering email, don't listen to anyone claiming to be a Dhemlan Queen who only needs your banking account information to deposit nine million goldmarks."

//I wouldn't hand out my banking account information for any less than fifteen,// Jono decided with a shrug. //Honestly, she can do better than that.//

"You remember how you asked me why I hated you enough for a parade and children's choir?" Karla asked. "This. This right here."

//And just so we're clear, here,// Jono checked, //'hate' is just another word for 'love,' right?//

"...Is it ever not?" Karla checked. "I mean, how could I hate my tiniest teaspoon?"

Look, Warren always got to be the big spoon on account of his wings. Being the big spoon was a novel and exciting experience for Karla!
