Fast Eddie's, Tuesday Evening

Soooooo, apparently today was Sparkle's 21st birthday? Which was weird.

It was weird. And Sparkle hadn't really planned anything for it. He always found it easier to make a big deal out of other people's big days than his own. And anyway, what did 21 mean? He could use real identification to drink now? Where was the fun in that?

But he wanted to do something, so he sent off a handwavey text to anyone on his contact list just saying, Fast Eddie's tonight, the multiverse has had to deal with 21 years of me, suckers, and then hopped through a portal to Fandom Island to crash the arcade.

... No, he didn't have anything in mind beyond that. No real party or anything. Just, hey, come to the arcade. Waste some quarters. Maybe somebody would show up. It'd be great. And he was kind of grinning like an idiot as he showed up, since he'd made a stop at the apartment first.

Aww, Sia. Unsolicited presents were kind of great.

Hannibal chuckled in appreciation. "Well, that would certainly be a challenge, but less of the 'attempt to sneak in' variety, and more of the 'be certain you have at least one of those lovely knives' variety."

"Always," Sparkle replied, shrugging. "And I got another one today. I'm in no danger of ever running out of lovely knives, I swear."

Yep. Totally was going to have to talk to Leto about that at some point. Probably.

"A cultural tradition, I'm guessing." Hannibal grinned. "A useful one, at least."

[myownface]

"Probably, yeah," Sparkle agreed, giving a silly little smile. "It means I'm kind of always at a loss for what to get him, but at least he's never at a loss for what to get me?"

So that... balanced out? Probably?

"And yet I'm certain he appreciates whatever you might get him," Hannibal said.

[myownface]

"Well, he hasn't complained yet," Sparkle admitted. "Doesn't make me any less worried about it."

Because Sparkle.

"Of course," Hannibal said. "Because you care for him and trust his opinion. You want him to think well of you, and you want to think you know him well enough to get him things that he'll enjoy."

He squeezed Sparkle's shoulder. "But you seem to be doing perfectly fine."

[myownface]

"That is still... like... really weird to hear," Sparkle admitted. "But... yeah. I think you're right."

[sharp_man]

"You had best get used to hearing it," Hannibal said, "because I intend to keep saying it until you believe it."
