Caritas- Tuesday

There had been weird dreams, there had been blood curse coffee yesterday, there had been a lot of thoughts on Space Battles, there had been a baby waking up all night, and now Kitty had to work at night.

Today was going greeeeat.

And then there was Tino, who Kitty caught napping at the bar when she got in, and was now regarding the zombies suspiciously.

The zombies were just trying to play some music for your enjoyment.

A little late in the evening, Clint came in with a very fussy Lexi miraculously strapped into the baby carrier. "Yes, I know, everything is terrible and Daddy's not helping," he muttered, coming up to the bar. "Please tell me that A you have coffee and B giving our daughter a teensy bit of alcohol to help her sleep is not a sign of bad parenting?"

"We have coffee," Kitty confirmed, and already went to get a mug. "...I think whiskey on the gums still works as a trick? Is that terrible?"

"Whatever kept her up last night is still keeping her up tonight and I feel bad putting her to sleep, but she needs it, and even I'm not awful enough at this job to give her caffeine," Clint said. "I just want her to feel okay, you know?"

Kitty presented him with his coffee- you better believe there was some made already- and days, "Maybe we should get a hotel for the night?"

"Oh hey, look what being a little more awake can do," Clint said, laughing. "Do you think it might be better if we're off the island or do you think this is one of those things that will follow us? I guess it can't hurt to try."

"If there is any chance of any of us sleeping, I say we give it a shot," Kitty said, setting down his coffee. "I thought we were past multiple days of this much sleeplessness."

Clint took the coffee and drank a considerable amount of it, and gave Kitty a grateful look. "I mean, we have a lot of sleepless nights ahead of us. The first time she goes to a party and sleeps somewhere else, if she wants to go to camp, the first time she tests us on curfew..."

It was possible he'd thought about all these terrible scenarios before.

"I think we have some time before those things, honey," Kitty smiled. "Technically she doesn't even have a curfew to break yet."

"Have you seen how much bigger she is? I swear, she grew during vacation," Clint said, drinking more coffee to cover his smirking. "That's what my nightmares are all about, Lexi being a terrible teen."

[throughaphase]

"Meanwhile I'm having nightmares about all the trouble she's going to get into once she's actually upright and mobile. If that ever happens."

They had their bases covered.

Clint wrapped one arm around Lexi more protectively. "She's not going to be mobile, she's going to be slow and crawling and catchable for a long time." Look, he could pretend, right?

"Okay but if she doesn't hit certain milestones, like becoming mobile, then we also should maybe worry a little," Kitty pointed out.

She'd maybe thought Lexi would be walking like two months ago.
