Parents' Weekend Brunch, The Park, Sunday

The weekend was drawing to a close - but not quite yet! There was still a little more time to hang out with your loved ones, or your loved ones' loved ones, or whatever your particular situation may have been.

And on Sunday, the town was providing a space for that in the shape of a brunch. Because everyone loved more free food.

"See a Fandom miracle for you Lester," Connor said with a smile. He was about to say something else when a familiar chirping sound caught his attention.

"Oh hey Rex, sorry wasn't trying to ignore ya buddy" he said as he knelt down to give the tiny dragon a head pat. "Did you want to try some of the hotdog?"

"Yes, yes a Fandom miracle, I'll be pleased if I never see another piece of glitter again," he said as he took a bite of his hot dog, it was actually a pretty good hot dog he had to admit.

Lester sighed and then broke a piece of the end of the hot dog and gave it to Rex, "don't say I don't ever do anything for you Rex,"

It was okay Rex, Lester was secretly very fond of you.

Connor smiled and looked at Cutter with a grin as he watched Lester and Rex.

"Oh you are such a little moocher ain't ya Rex" he said fondly.

Cutter returned the grin as he watched Lester and Rex, "I think you've lost your hot dog there James," as he noticed Rex looking up at the rest of the hot dog hungrily.

Lester sighed, took one more bite of the hot dog and threw the rest down for Rex.

This day just kept getting better and better.

And look at that Lester, Rex was saying thank you as he chirped happily and made quick work of the rest of the hotdog. With that finished he gave another chirp and jumped into the air and flew around them a few times before landing on Cutter's shoulder.

"Good boy Rex, are you still hungry?" Cutter smiled fondly as he gave Rex some chin scritches and then he took a bit off his own hot dog and held it up to Rex so that he could eat.

If people were going to keep feeding him then he was definitely going to keep mooching. Rex chirped happily at the scratches and the offered hotdog. He liked it when his favourite people had visitors.

Once he was finished with Cutter's offered hotdog Rex looked over at Lester and tilted his head and gave a small questioning chirp as if he was contemplating jumping over to Lester's shoulder.

Cutter smiled fondly and gave Rex another scritch.

Lester noticed the direction Rex was looking and sighed, "come on Rex," he said, turning slightly so Rex could fly over to his shoulder, "the suit's already ruined, but only this once," he added not that he expected this to stop him.

With a trilling chirp, Rex jumped the short distance to Lester's shoulder and looked around proudly as if it was a big deal. He gave a happy chirp at Lester and even gave him a small nuzzle. And don't worry Lester, he wouldn't leave any little 'presents' for you this time.

Lester would appreciate that and despite his outward appearance of disdain, he did reach up to give Rex a few scritches.

Cutter smiled as he watched Rex on Lester's shoulder, "how's the view from over there Rex?" he asked fondly.

"Moving up there in the world aren't ya Rex" Becker said with a smile as he broke off a piece of his hamburger and tossed it towards Rex who gladly accepted it. "You know how to get on the boss' good side don't ya?" he said with a small grin at Lester.

Lester sighed at that but he was still giving Rex scritches, "perhaps I should give Rex a promotion while I'm at it," and his lips twitched a little in a smile but he would absolutely deny it, "what do you think Rex?"

"Oiy hey now! How come Rex gets a promotion and I don't?" Connor asked with a hurtful look and tone though he was grinning a bit despite his best efforts to look like he was being serious.

Lester's lips twitched at that and despite his best efforts he couldn't stop that small smile, "well I think that settles it then, doesn't it Rex ... consider yourself promoted,"

Sorry Connor.

"Brilliant... bloody brilliant" Connor said with a hurt look. "The dragon gets a promotion before me. Fine! I am going to go raid the dessert table!" he said with a huff though there was a smirk on his lips as he turned and hurried off to see what sweets there were.

Lester smirked as Connor left, "good boy Rex," he said and he gave Rex some scritches, "are you hungry? Do you think we should see if there are any hot dogs left?"

Rex chirped and trilled happily as he bounced on Lester's shoulder.

"I think that is Rex talk for heck yes" Becker said with a laugh.

Oh look there was a faint hint of a smile there, "well then, I think we should go and see what we can find shouldn't we?" as he looked over in the direction where the hot dogs were, "let's go Rex," and he started to head over towards the table.

"Would you look at that?" Connor marvelled as he watched Lester head off with Rex on his shoulders still. "Guess the man does have a soft side down under all that gruffness" he said with a grin as he looked at Becker and Cutter.

Cutter smiled as he watched his boss and Rex head of in the direction of the food table, "I definitely never would have imagined it," he said, "I think he's gotten used to all of us over the years,"

Which probably wasn't as reassuring as he thought it was.

"I think that alone makes this a successful visit for Lester" Connor said with a grin. "I am glad you all got to come this year" he aid as he looked over at Becker with a warm smile.

"Glad I got to make it this time" Becker said. "This really is an amazing place I can see why you both love it so much and I am glad I got to see a small bit of this life of yours this weekend. Thank you for letting me tag along!"

"You're welcome Becker, I'm glad you got to see where we work and live away from the ARC," Cutter smiled warmly, "and that the visit was relatively normal apart from all the glitter," he added sheepishly.

"Aye been a successful visit for sure- first of hopefully many more to come!" Connor said as he gave Becker's shoulder a pat.

Cutter smiled at that, "absolutely, it was nice that everything turned out so well, you'll definitely have to come back next year,"

He would be sad to see them all leave but at least they would be able to visit the ARC soon.
