Caritas- Tuesday

Kitty was just bored enough to start considering things to do, which ended up in her maybe trying to plan things for a party. Maybe something casual? And not in a bar, even if that was really easy when you ran a bar.

Tino, who hadn't taken down the space decorations from Wal-Mart's website after Saturday, had ideas, and Kitty was going to have to find some way to let him down easy that he would never be allowed in her house.

In an attempt to keep himself from thinking too much while left to his own devices Stark had gone to the gym, gone home, eaten dinner, and then headed back out. All the way across the street to Caritas.

"Hello, Kitty."

[throughaphase]

"Hey, Stark," she greeted him. "What can I get you?"

[stykera]

"Something fruity?" Stark said. "I usually just have whatever the specials are on Wednesdays so I don't order other things very often. How are you, Kitty?"

[throughaphase]

"On it," she said, starting in the fruity drink from last time. "I'm doing okay. Been a pretty quiet night."

Aside from all the Marvel tonight.

[stykera]

Sometimes the bar just had a themed crowd. For reasons. And sometimes a space person showed up to mess with that theme, oops.

"My night was too quiet, so I came in here. For company."

[throughaphase]

"You did the right thing, then. Did you meet the new guy?" she asked.

[stykera]

"I saw him at the bakery the other day," Stark confirmed. "He seems fine, so far. And not bothered by this place. Some people have a very hard time adjusting."

Some people weren't from comics and it showed.

[throughaphase]

"He's from my world," she said, setting the drink in front of him. "You kind of have to be able to adjust."

[stykera]

Stark lifted his glass towards her. "You've been here a long time, haven't you? Did you adjust quickly?"

[throughaphase]

"I was here for a few days before the multiverse started imploding on itself," she said. "So yeah."

[stykera]

Stark considered that for a moment before nodding.

"That would make it necessary, wouldn't it?"

Had that been the time people had started being erased from existence or another time the multiverse was imploding? It was hard to keep track of these things sometimes.

"It helps coming from somewhere were things are strange to begin with."

"Stark!" Remy greeted, raising his glass. It was nice to recognize someone from the island and not from another version of his own reality. ". . . You're not an Avenger, are you?"

[stykera]

"Not that I know of?" Stark shrugged.

He didn't own enough spandex to be an Avenger. Obviously.

"Hello, Remy. Good to see you again."

That was the drawback of being a superhero. The clothes were all so tight.

"Merci. And you. Turns out I know most folks in this bar. Though they don't seem to know me so well."

[stykera]

It was a plus for the folks looking at those superheroes though.

"You know Kitty from before?" Stark asked, looking around. "Or Tony? Or both? But different ones?"

"Both, but different, oui. My version of Kitty and I have even teamed up on a semi-regular basis."

And he'd helped design Tony's security. And then used that knowledge to burgle the place. It was a thing.

Sometimes you needed to build something just to break it? Or did Tony just have really cool stuff?

"It's good having familiar faces. Easier than not knowing anyone, isn't it? At least usually. There's no one here now I knew from before but there used to be."

Remy's cyborg friend Fence had had his cyborg bits stolen, so he needed new ones. And Remy's problem-solving skills tended to default to "lie, cheat, and steal".

Remy shrugged. "It's alright. It'd be better if it were Stormy or Rogue or something." A Rogue that wasn't currently beefing with him would be . . . weird but good. "But Kitty and a handful of Avengers isn't bad."

"I don't know those names," Stark said. "Sorry. But...do you know Steve? Or Wanda? They live with Tony."

That didn't make the whole thing sound more complicated than it really was, did it?

“We’ve crossed paths,” Remy said. “Back home, anyway. I guess the ones around here are from a very different timeline than mine though.”

‘No mutants’. That was just absurd. They must all be in hiding or something. . . .

[stykera]

They would almost certainly appear soon. Right? Via some totally mysterious method that would in no way be contrived!

"It's odd, when that happens. Hard to remember who knows what." And Stark hadn't had multiple realities to deal with here, only multiple timelines. "You almost get used to it. Sometimes."

Remy chuckled. “I suppose I will. Man can get used to all sorts of things.”

[stykera]

"That is very true," Stark said with a nod. "You're settling in all right? I know it's only been a few days, but...it can be a lot, being here."

Running into different versions of people you knew, drinking in a bar with a zombie band, listening to squirrel radio...

Remy shook his head. “No worse than Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras. Actually less zombies here, too.”

[stykera]

"I'm not sure where that is," Stark said. "Should I? I haven't traveled much here. I didn't at first but I'm...I'm working on it."
