The ballroom was all done up in appropriately red, white, and blue bunting. Because bunting felt very Steve if you asked Tony. And Tony was the one picking the decorations for this one. Sorry, Steve.

There were a few fireworks themed chandeliers set up in the center of the room to drive home the celebration as well. And a wide selection of foods that Steve liked most. So all the foods. It was all the foods, but straight-forward stuff (burger bar, taco bar, hot dog bar, ice cream sundae bar with a chocolate fountain (because who didn't want a chocolate fountain on their birthday?)), and not appetizer portions. And pie! Either because Steve liked pie or because Tony thought it was hilarious.

Or both.

And after all of that, there would be a birthday cake with a truly obnoxious number of candles and a 'fireworks' show that was visible from the ballroom windows if you didn't want to brave a trip to the roof. It was actually a drone show because Tony was Tony. And the noise would be something else if they did actual fireworks.

The best thing about this slew of parties going on right now was that it provided Summee with endless opportunities to dress up and look cute. And while she had considered leaning into the red, white, and blue theme she was pretty sure this bash was going to have, she decided to stay thematic in her own signature style instead.

Really, did the party need more RW&B? Come on.

"Summer! Tony said with a bright smile. "You started a trend, it seems. After the party drought, we've been inundated."

"I do like to consider myself a bit of a trendsetter," Summer said, beaming at the recognition for her efforts that included the hard work of conveniently being born right at the start of the season she was named for. "Sometimes, all you need is a push to get things going, right? But this is fantastic. Like, honestly, could you ask for a better thematic tie-in?"

Really big on that herself, obviously.

"Right?" Look, thematic color usage was just a part of life. For cartoons. And comics. "I'll assume Steve finally let me throw him a party because of it."

Summer's grin went a little crooked at that. "'Let'," she said, shaking her head. "I swear, I will never get people who don't want to just jump on any chance to party, but I'm also not surprised that Steeeeve is one of them."

"He's shy," Tony said with a laugh. Shy compared to say, Summer or Tony, that is.

"And, like," Summer added, "humble and sweet and stuff, and probably awkward with all this extra attention on him, and therefore this is clearly perfect and I'm so glad you're doing it."

Tony's smile turned oh so much sweeter at that. "Next year I'll get him down to the bar to celebrate and we can surprise him."

Awwwww. Summer was just going to need a moment to internally squee over how fucking adorable that subtle little shift was.

"Oh," she agreed emphatically, "definitely. And I'll definitely probably be back by then, too."

She knew how these little blues in fucking off elsewhere tended to go...

"Summer!" Steve said with a bright, welcoming smile. "I'm glad you made it."

"Steeeeeve!" Summer beamed back at him, opening her arms to give him a big birthday hug. "Thank you! I wouldn't miss it for anything! Happy birthday!"

"Thank you!" Steve said. "We figured people had better things to do tomorrow than celebrate me, so we moved the thing a day early."

"Pfft," Summer immediately scoffed at that idea with a wave of her hand. "Please. If anything, you'd be giving some people a good excuse as to avoid other celebrations."

Not that Summer really needed to avoid her dad's cookouts these days, but anyway...

"If anything," she noted, "it's just a good break for whoever does get stuck doing radio on Saturday."

Steve laughed. "Tomorrow is normally my day, so that was going to be a problem for me," he said. "Stark and I swapped."

"Well, that's a nice birthday present for you, too, then," Summer said fondly. "Congratulations?"

"Thank you," Steve said with a grin. "We should try to make our small talk super interesting, as a favor to him."

"Oooh," Summer said, eagerly watching on with extra excitement for show, even though it really wasn't that hard to do, "what should we start with? The weather? Drinks? Food? Which jello flavor is your favorite, maybe? What are you hoping to get for birthday presents?"

"Hi," Stark said softly, walking up.

"New dress? It's...very nice."

"Hi, Stark," Summer greeted back, and she was already posing a little, turning a bit to show off her outfit as she confirmed, "and, yeah. New dress. Do you like it?"

And, see, when she asked questions she already knew the answer to, it was on purpose.

"You look beautiful," Stark said, honestly. "I like it very much."

Maybe more than he ought to but who was to say, really?

Well, if Summer was to say, she would probably say it was being appreciated pretty much exactly as intended, so...

"Thank you," she gushed. "And you look pretty nice,too. New shirt? I don't think I remember that one."

Given a hint or two Stark might appreciate it even more.

"It is," Stark said. "I thought about asking my stylist but...I thought she might be busy. I'm glad you like it. It feels nice, too."

No, no, this was probably a pretty good balance right about here.

Even if Summer was probably threatening that herself when her brows lifted slightly and she reached out a hand.

"Yeah? Can I...?"

Obviously, she'd have to confirm how it felt for herself!

Stark stepped in a little closer. Just a bit.

"Of course."

And Summer, of course, reached put, to gently take the fabric of Stark's sleeve between her fingertips to feel it for herself.

"That is pretty nice," she agreed. She smiled as she looked from the shirt to his face. "Silk, right?"
