Saturday Morning

She slides out of bed, careful not to wake up the Doctor. Saturday morning, she thinks...a smile spreading across her face.

She climbs in the shower, and when she's done she pulls her wet hair back and pins it. She dresses quickly in her yoga pants and a tank top. Kissing his forehead lightly as she walks past the bed, she double checks that she has her key and her purse and heads out to go get some coffee...

OOC: CJ woke me up to play...come on, don't disappoint her!!

Shane sits by the small pond, scribbling in her notebook. She's dressed in a red shirt (http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y162/lilspinkchainsaw/Shane%20Caps/Season%202/2x11/Shane/992f4759.jpg) with white accents on the short sleeves - emblazoned on the front are the words 'Looking is Free' in large print and 'But Touching Will Cost You' in smaller print just beneath it - a pair of comfortably shredded jeans and her black Chuck Taylors.

Sitting to her left on the bench is a take-out cup of Perk coffee and a few slices of plain bread. The ducks are a trifle annoyed that she's too busy writing in her journal to throw them any breakfast.

[OOC: You're ignoring the ducks?! How cruel. Poor little hungry ducks.]

Looking up from her notebook, Shane smiles. "Hey, hi," she says warmly. "Good morning. You wanna sit?" After a moment she blinks and looks down at the ducks. She closes her notebook, caps her pen and tucks it under her folded legs so that it's out of the way and then reaches for a slice of bread.

"I'm sorry, guys," she says to the ducks apologetically as she starts tearing pieces of bread off and handing it over to them, leaning over the growing throng. They nab the bread, smacking their bills together contentedly. "I just got distracted. Promise it won't happen again."

Shane smiles as CJ sits down next to her, though her eyes are still focused on the ducks. "Yeah, I uhhh... I was just writing about that in my journal, actually," she murmurs, nodding to the notebook currently under her right thigh. She sits back a little and picks up her take-out cup, taking a sip of Black Death before setting the cup back down and grabbing another couple of slices of bread.

"Your friend," she glances over at CJ as she says the words, her smile broadening, "was great, umm... he told me it would probably be a good idea not to let anybody else look at the bracelets. He said the tattoos would be a good idea, because... well, he didn't say 'if these fall into the wrong hands' or anything, but... he came pretty close."

Sitting back in her seat her hands work on autopilot, tearing bite-sized pieces of bread off and feeding it to the ducks. Jesus, even when I'm not working, I'm working.

"Yeah. So... I'm gonna let my friend who's doing the tattoo for me copy off the designs and then I'm putting them someplace safe," she says, nodding, seeming satisfied with that course of action. "Yeah. It was so cool that he could help and extremely cool that you thought of it. He seems nice."

"Or me," Shane adds at the mention of trust issues, though she doesn't laugh. Instead, she just smiles a little as she tosses another piece of bread to the ducks.

She blinks and looks over at CJ. "Oh, hey, am I keeping you? You look like you were on your way somewhere," she says, biting her lip. "I don't wanna hold you up or anything, if you've got stuff..."

Shane watches CJ for a long moment, hands still on autopilot, and tilts her head slightly to one side. She breaks from her staring for a moment to address her adoring feathered fans. "All right, I'm out, you guys cleaned me out," she says, laughing as she tosses the last few pieces of bread into the crowd, aiming for the pond to try to get them to clear out. "Go hang out over there."

After a moment, she sits back in her seat and looks over at CJ again as she picks up her coffee. "So what happened?" She asks carefully.

[identity profile] shane-mcc.livejournal.com 2005-10-01 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"Okay," she says evenly after a moment, head still tipped to one side as she watches CJ. "I'm taking it things got pretty intense?"

[identity profile] shane-mcc.livejournal.com 2005-10-01 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"Was this something you guys had talked about beforehand... or...?" She trails off so that CJ can fill in the blank with any other possibilities. She reaches for the pack of cigarettes sitting by her left knee, shakes one out and lights it.

"Yeah," Shane says, nodding. "That can happen."

Shane knows that under normal circumstances, she might playfully tease CJ and tell her that she wasn't allowed, but looking at CJ's hands, she realizes that these aren't normal circumstances. "Sure," she says, opening the pack and holding it out to her.

"Well, I mean... some of it's not exactly within the boundaries of my experience," Shane says in a deliberate drawl in an effort to get CJ to smile. "But... I get a lot of it."

She takes a drag off of her cigarette and shakes her hair out of her eyes. "I think... that... it's good not to have expectations of other people. It's better for you because... you don't get hurt because they didn't live up to them. Better for them, because they don't feel that weight. You know?"

[identity profile] shane-mcc.livejournal.com 2005-10-01 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"No," Shane says emphatically and there's a fire that has ignited behind her eyes that is usually kept down to a persistent glow. She twists in her seat to face CJ and takes her hand, holding on tight. "No," she says again, a great deal more gently.

She looks down for a moment and licks her lips as she gathers her thoughts. "See, that's the other thing I was gonna say... about expectations. As good as it is to try not to have them about other people, sometimes... sometimes you just do. And... you're basically at that person's mercy. They've got your expectations and they can do whatever the fuck they want with them. It's all up to them. But... if you're lucky - and I think you and Ten are lucky - then you just... kinda trade and trust each other with your expectations." She finishes with a slight shrug.

"Yeah, sure, we can go," Shane says, nodding. She leans over and gently rubs CJ's back. "You should eat. And I'll buy you coffee because thanks to me babysitting Jane's wet clothes, I get fifty cents off all my drinks." She grins and winks at her. "How's that sound?"
