The Emporium is Open -- Tuesday

Michael had hit the snooze alarm four times when Ben finally decided to just let his husband sleep and open the store himself. He found a return e-mail from his son; he definitely hoped Hunter would consider coming out for a visit, even though he and Michael were probably going to go back to Pittsburgh for Thanksgiving.

While he wasn't quite as familiar with the store as Michael, Ben figured he could find what people wanted until his other half managed to wake up. Now that the ending had changed, the front of his novel needed a lot of revision, and that's what he worked on as he waited for customers to stop by.


((OOC Edit: Michael is now in the store as well. You can chat with either one or both, but mun may have trouble getting both of them to keep up with you. :P))

The brothers pulled up, parking the bikes and alarming them, and heading into the store. At the door, Yazoo saw it wasn't Michael behind the counter and he stopped.

Loz noticed his brother's attention and looked to see what he was staring at and he grinned. He split off from Kadaj who took up post by the window to watch to go get the food they'd need for the next week.

"Good morning." Ben was going to at least make the stretch at being polite. He watched the brothers carefully, hoping there wouldn't be trouble. He was the one who had talked Michael out of buying a gun for security, but now he wished he hadn't.

Yazoo nodded slightly before going off behind Loz to help. He eventually peeled off from Loz and wandered down the aisles, obviously looking for something specific.

Ben watched Yazoo wandering the aisles. He knew he should offer to help, even though he didn't really want to. He was working the store and, like it or not, these were legitimate customers. Michael would have offered, even if it would have terrified him. "Is there something I can help you find?"

Maia came into the store looking around. She had never really been in the store but Tara had told her they would have what she needed. A sharp little pain hit Maia when she thought of the nice morning they had had but she quickly pushed it away. She was on a mission.

He made a slow turn to face Michael, a small smile on his face. His tongue peeked out and licked across his lower lip. Slowly, as not to startle Ben, he unzipped his coat half way and reached beneath the leather.

Staring at Yazoo, Ben gritted his teeth, ready to duck behind the counter...as if that would really provide shelter from the blast of a gun. His heart pounded in his chest.

Ben smiled at the girl. "Hi there. What can I do for you?"

Maia smiles warmly "I'm looking for playdough." She said grinning wider. "And um" She frowned in thought. "Funny putty." She smiles then stopped "No wait Silly putty." She blushed "Silly putty. Do you have those things?" Her voice was hopeful

"That should be down the toy and game aisle." Ben tried to remember which one that was. "That middle aisle there, I think," he said, pointing. "Sorry, Michael knows this place better than I do."

Maia smiled wide. "Thank you very much." She goes in search of the items and is shocked by the various types avaliable. She sees the eggs that hold the silly putty and she stares at them confused. The different varities and playsets with the play dough distress her as well. "Sir?" She calls out in question having not asked the mans name.

It was such a turn on to see Ben brace. He could see the muscles working in his jaw and neck as he tensed and it sent such a thrill down Yazoo's spine.

Yazoo leaned in...and pulled out a small baggie with a few marshmallows in it, holding it up for Ben to see.

"Yes?" Ben walks around the counter and down the aisle where the girl had disappeared.

Maia is holding her silly putty egg but is standing by the various Playdough play sets. "I-These have playdough cans in them? I just thought there was one kind of playdough and I see all these sets and well does all the playdough come like this?" She glances around "My friend just had these cans and these all seem to have toys with them." Maia picked up a fun factory set and looking it over.

Ben blinked. What the hell? The tension drained from him as he blinked a few more times. "Uh, aisle 2. Between the sugar and the hot chocolate." He furrowed his brow and shook his head. He would never, ever understand this town and its inhabitants.

"I think all the toys come with at least a can or two. My niece loves this stuff, but I don't pay much attention to it." Ben furrows his brow and looks around the display. He picks up a set of three cans. "If you just want the dough, we've got these variety packs. The toys aren't necessary, but if JR's tastes are any indication, they're a lot of fun."

Maia looks at the set of cans and takes it from Ben. Cluthching the set of cans and her putty egg Maia studies the sets carefully. Finally pulling down a hair cutting one and the fun factory she smiles at Ben. "Do the egg putty's have sets too?" She said showing him her putty egg.

The reaction was delicious. Yazoo, still smiling, nodded his head and went to the aisle that held them.

His grin slid into an innocent expression of glee when he saw the huge bag of them. Picking one up, he turned it over in his hands and mouthed out the word marshmallow silently.

He grabbed another bag and returned to Loz's side where a quiet argument broke out between them.

"I think the most they have is two-packs, although it comes in all sorts of colors." Ben rummages on the shelf. "The Christmas ones (http://www.crayolastore.com/product_detail.asp?T1=CRA+08%2D0934) just came in, though."

Ben watches the men, still shaking his head. He wondered what sort of tantrum the inner child of a person like that would throw.

Maia's eyes are wide with excitement. "Oh I like those." She breathed. "I take one of those as well." Maia held all her treasures close to her as she walked to the register.

Ben follows behind, smiling. He was all for toys; anything that kept one's mind off their problems was a good thing.

He rang up the items. "That'll be $41.14."
