Sunday at the Hotel

Crowley has put a small tv in behind the check in counter, and sits, feet crosses on the counter, watching The Golden Girls...the only thing this particular television shows.

Sometime in the evening, Duce stops in to pick up her keycard. "Hello, again," she says, her voice calm. "Could I pick up the key to my room, please?"

Ah, my precious...you've come. [He holds up a card key between two fingers.] And shall I expect anyone else for you?

"Sadly, no," Duce replies somberly, "Just me tonight. I don't really mind. It'll give me a chance to relax and get away from," she pauses, "things for awhile." A small, pale hand reaches for the key.

A lovely woman such as yourself shouldn't be alone, ever.

[His voice is soft and seductive and his smile frighteningly genuine.]

Duce looks nonplussed at the compliment. Or rather, her bland expression doesn't change. She could be plussed, secretly, on the inside, but her outside is definitely not of the plussed variety.

"If you're attempting to offer me the services of an 'escort', I'm afraid I'll have to decline. They usually come with pesky little 'no-harm' clauses," she comments calmly.

My dear, I have never understood the need for a no-harm clause. Harm and chaos are part of the fun, don't you agree?

[He walks around the counter.]

Shall I lead you to your room and carry your baggage, madame?

"Harm and chaos are the main components of the fun," Duce agreed, still in that calm voice, "Pain and terror coming in a close second." The words come out as though she's savoring them.

Offering him her backpack, she nods politely, "Thank you, I'd appreciate that."

[He takes her backpack and slides in front of her, his body so close the faint scent of sulfur is noticable...but no touching.] My dear...we could get along famously, oh yesss, we could.

[Turning on his heel, he walks toward the elevator.] This way, poppet.

Duce notices the sulfur. With a head full of snakes, she tastes it, but her expression still stays emotionless. "I wouldn't bet the rent on that. I apparently have a great deal of difficulty getting along with anyone, even when I care to try, and right now, caring is something I'm not terribly in the mood for in any form."

She follows him to the elevator, glancing around to take her bearings.

Jonathan heads towards the hotel with a small tin in his hands. He stops at the front desk and debates just leaving it on the desk with a note.

[After he's done with the lovely dear he just got tucked away, he steps off the elevator...only to see his beautiful little bird.]

Crane, my sweet...how are you, my boy?

Dearest, I sympathize entirely. It's a difficult road we walk...being what we are. [Stepping in the elevator, he holds the door for her.]

"Hello sir, I'm great really. The past few days have been amazing. I would have thanked you on Saturday morning when I woke up but I kind of had to hurry and get to detention, I didn't even change. But I umm, I brought you these," he says handing him the tin, "They aren't much, I'm not the best cook but I was in a good mood yesterday and made some for my friends and I thought maybe you might like some also." Jonathan explains quickly. He's blushing but he's clearly in to good of a mood to let it bother him.

The tin has several cookies in it, peanut butter and chocolate chip.

"I didn't know if you even liked them but, you know."

Sweets from my sweet...I adore them. [He reaches out and cups Jonathan's cheek as he takes the tin. A small shiver of desire runs through the boy, but when the hand goes, so does the sensation.] Thank you , little bird.

Jonathan doesn't want to like it when Crowley touches him, but he does. He smiles and almost preens under it.

"You're welcome Mr. Crowley. I had thought you and Mr. Phale might enjoy them. He seems to type to like cookies from what I've heard."

He is, my dearest. My angel has always had a fondness for biscuits, and I appreciate chocolate. You are so very considerate. [He sets the tin behind the counter.] How have you been sleeping, boy?

Stepping past him with a polite nod, Duce waits until the elevator doors have closed before remarking, "'What we are'? You're not a gorgon, and you don't smell human. Care to elaborate?"

Serpents, love. [He licks his lips, his green forked tongue tasting the air and the sweet syrup on his lip. Pressing the button, he watches the floor indicator.]

Her snakes watch his tongue as if fascinated. Duce slowly turns her head to regard him for a long moment. Eventually she nods, and simply says, "Yes."

A moment later, she adds quietly, "The humans.. never understand. They think the do, the best of them try to, but even then, they never understand the appetite."

"Oh, I've been sleeping great Mr. Crowley. The most wonderful dreams all night long. And I have you to thank."

Of course not, precious. How can they? They'll never grasp even a portion of it. There's a reason we find one another, in the dark pits of the world. [he smiles at her, his wicked, white teeth shining in the diffuse light.]
