House of Illusions, Tuesday night

Done with the family-related issues that come with Thanksgiving, Gob was back out at his booth. The sign that had been up there for the past week remained:

Jaye takes a while heading to Caritas, because... well, because, and sees the booth, along with the poor schlub behind it. "You know there are actual witches and wizards in this town, right?" she asks.

"Pfft! Magic. Whatever. This, missy, is all about Illusion, not magic," Gob said while holding up a copy of Magic for Morons. "20% off, only $20. You interested?"

"Why would I need a book about illusion?" she asks. "And isn't it saying it's different than magic just saying that illusion is really just some trick you play on people too stupid to know there's a difference?"

"Okay, 30% off. $12. And that's cutting my own throat!" Gob said, pulling a knife out of his sleeve thin air.

It would have been more impressive if it weren't a plastic knife.

"Fine, just ten dollars!" Gob pulled a $10 bill out of his other sleeve thin air as well as a demonstration of... well, a demonstration of what $10 is. "Bleed me dry, why don't you?"

"Same here," Gob said, not realizing for a moment that he had - at best - just insulted himself by suggesting that he was lucky to get even ten bucks.

When Jaye was out of earshot, he yelled to no one inparticular, "Take that, Dad! Take that, Michael! Who's the failure at business now? Who's the failure now?!"

Over two thousand miles away, in Orange County, California, a shady man in a shady room watched a computer screen. The computer beeped. "He sold a book. It's time to take him out, OMG. Write a stern letter and overnight it."
