Ching Tai, Thursday night

The NPC-run Chinese restaurant is cheerful, with Chinese characters painted in red on the walls and tables set with the ubiquitous Chinese Zodiac placemats. Lanterns sway overhead as the hostess ushers Angela and Marty to a booth in the back.

[OOC: Public space, so anyone can come in.]

Marty sits down and takes a look around the place. "I've never actually been here before. I assume the food is pretty good?"

"Mmm. Greasy chinese food is the best."

Marty smiles and gives Angela's hand a little squeeze.

"Pretty good. There was a dog running around in Tick's class this morning which was kind of fun. Other than that I just sat at the library and checked out the new aide they hired."

"Cam's a wolf-puppy? This animal thing is just getting way out of control. I wonder when they'll get a dog catcher for Fandom. I think we need one."

Marty puts on a look of mock astonishment.

"The new aide dyes her hair? You mean it's not natural? And she doesn't look emo to me. You should probably get to know her better, because I'm betting she's actually a sweet person once you get past all that flannel."

Marty snickers and manages to get out an order for egg drop soup and vegetable lo mein.

"I don't think you need to be jealous of anything. I'm a one red-head-girl kind of guy," Marty says with a grin.

"So how was your day?"

[identity profile] oatmanspatient.livejournal.com 2005-12-01 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Marty cocks an eyebrow. "You're keeping me? That's good to know."

"I don't know how good of an interview I'd be. I was S.O. for maybe 20 minutes tops and even then I wasn't that great at it, but if you want I will."

The NPC waitress comes by with the food and lays it out and Marty nods to her in thanks.

"Hey! Here's an idea. You could interview Veronica Mars's dad. He's a P.I. out in California and I think he used to be sheriff."

Marty caught the frown, and since he is getting to know her pretty well also caught the tone in her voice. He puts down some of his Lo Mein noodles.

"Yeah. We're friends. Nothing more than that though. You know that, right?" Marty's voice has a trace of humor in it.

Marty's voice softens. "It's about that Jordan guy, right? I mean you never talked about him and what happened. If you don't want to talk about it I understand but..."

Marty voice trails off.

Marty winces. "Yeah. I can see why that would cause some trust issues. Not that I have a better track record when it comes to breakups but..."

Marty sighs. "I understand how you feel. And believe me when I say that I'm not planning on going anywhere. Okay?"

Marty then gets a sly grin on his face.

Marty's grin becomes somewhat chesire cat-like. "Just remembered something I picked up when I closed up shop the other month. I'll give it to you later. But I can see how your parents problems and everything haven't helped."

Marty finishes his soup and pushes some noodles around on his plate.

"You trust me right?"

[identity profile] oatmanspatient.livejournal.com 2005-12-02 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
Marty gets an oh-so-fake-innocent-look on his face. "Well I don't have the present here. It's back in my room..."

"My fortune? Sure."

Marty cracks open his fortune and reads aloud "An empty stomach is a poor political ally."

Marty makes a face at the fortune and pays the bill.

"Come on. I'm sure your dying of curiousity." (http://www.livejournal.com/users/oatmanspatient/23475.html)
