Sanctity: Evening

It's been one of those days. First, she gets a call from an acquaintance who has plans for a friend of hers. Then her accountant calls to let her know that the stock she invested in flopped (frelling Vibrosoft just had to build their Doorways with problems and then refuse to fix them).

Now, she's in the shop, and there's inventory missing. Or maybe she just misplaced it.

Zhaan figures nothing can get any worse until she steps out the door into the street to dust the lintels. There's a feeling in the air, a restlessness that reminds her of Moya when she was broody and pregnant. As if, at any moment, the entire town would turn sideways and starbust away.

Which would be impossible, considering it wasn't a spaceship.

But then, Zhaan figures stranger things have happened.

The Baron decided to introduce himself to his new neighbours. With that in mind, he stepped outside to see his new neighbour already outside. He lifted his hat to her. "Good evening, madam."

"Very well, thank you," he replies gravely. "I wished to introduce myself. As you may have noticed," he gestured with his cane towards the small, picturesque building where an alley had been, "I have just moved in. I am Baron Humbert von Gikkingen, and that is the Cat Business Office."

"It is a pleasure, Miss Zhaan, and my thanks for your warm welcome," he says with a slight stately bow. "You are always welcome in my humble establishment for a spot of tea."

The Baron's whiskers twitched. "I feel it as well." He smiled. "But I fear it isn't simply the weather that is growing stormy. The town seems restless tonight."

"I would advise you to stay inside, madam," the Baron says, concerned, "Or to spend the night with friends."

"I will. Good evening." He tipped his hat to her in salute and set off down the street.
