Ching Tai, Tuesday evening

Nadia led the way into Ching Tai, got them seated, and picked up the menu.

Really, so much time at Cafe Fina had spoiled her. She actually had to choose her own food.

"I don't know what you mean," Nadia said, while mentally debating between the beef and brocolli and the kung pao chicken.

Wow, the table just got quiet.

"So, you and John Connor,"

[nadiathesaint]

Nadia smiled. "I'm glad. He seems . . . nice."

[nadiathesaint]

"You could always kill them," Nadia said, holding a chopstick up with a grin. "But I've found most boys are. They're hopeless."

[nadiathesaint]

Nadia nodded. "Do you think they ever grow out of it?"

[nadiathesaint]

Nadia thought about what she had learned about her father and shuddered just a little. That wasn't really friendly dinner time conversation, though.

"Why don't you stay with your mom?"

[nadiathesaint]

Nadia's face fell. "Oh, I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have brought it up."

That being said. . . . Nadia was still very curious. "What was she like?"

"That's wonderful. I would have liked to have met my mother."

Even if she was some sort of KGB agent under cover. But, really, could Nadia even believe what Sloane had told her?

Nadia shrugged. "I have no idea, actually. I never met her. It was only recently that I even learned anything about her."

Nadia opened her mouth to say something, but then the waiter arrived for their meals. After handwavily, omg ordering, she turned back to Sydney.

Parents keeping secrets? Yeah, she felt like she might know a thing or two about that. "I think most six year olds probably don't know everything about their mothers,"

Nadia was a little confused as to what secrets Sydney's mother must have been keeping, but she didn't ask. "No, that's not stupid at all." She smiled softly. "May I see it?"

Nadia picked up the photo . . . and then froze.

Just for a second. Then she carefully composed herself and glanced up at Sydney. "Your mother, what kind of secrets was she keeping?"

It couldn't be. Could it? She had definitely seen this woman before, in those dreams. And when she'd seen her she'd known that it was her mother.

Nadia's eyes widened.

Okay, so she'd been looking, sort of, for her sibling at Fandom High. Still, this? Was very, very weird.

"Do-do you know what her real name was?"

[nadiathesaint]

Nadia shook her head, staring down at the photo again. "Nothing, not really." She looked back up at Sydney. "Awhile ago, my cat ran away, and I went to Caritas and sang for Lorne so he could tell me where he went. He did, but he told me something else."

She passed the picture back across the table. "He said I had a sibling, probably a sister, here at Fandom." Deep breath. She could do this without sounding crazy. "And I've seen your mother before. I-I think. . . ." Another deep breath. "I think you might be my sister."

Well, that sealed it. Unless Sloane was really messing with her.

"Do you know someone named Arvin Sloane? Maybe a friend of your parents or something?"

[nadiathesaint]

Nadia closed her eyes and bit her lip. "He's my father."

[nadiathesaint]

Nadia was nearly flailing. "I don't know, he just came here a few weeks ago and said he was my father and that Irina Derevko was my mother but she was pretending to be someone else when he was with her, the wife of a friend of his, and that . . . that. . . ."

She ran out of breath and speed at about the same time.

"Madre del dios, Sydney, we're sisters!"
