Singin' in the Rain (Park, Monday Evening)

When Tim got off work he decided to enjoy the rain in the park. He was slightly disapointed that he would get to put his emo plot into action to get Artie back, but was glad the man was cured. The park in the rain would be the perfect setting for Emo. He brooded slightly despite his non-emo mood. This was twice he'd known something was off about someone, and no one believed him.

There was a duck sitting forlornly under the shelter of one of the suspended trash cans. The other ducks hadn't shunned it or anything, he simply was unhappy with his surroundings.

Having spent much of the day at the docks fitting her new emergency motor on The Bag of Gold, Pippi takes the long way back to the dorms.

She dances along the path, splashing in various puddles as she goes.

Tim grinned at her and waved, twirling his umbrella.

There's a soft, "Quack!" As water from one of the puddles splashes up under one of the trash cans.

Pippi waved back.

"Hi Tim!", she said. She does not have an umbrella.

"Ooops!" she says leaning over and looking underneath for the source of the noise.

"Hey Pippi!" Tim said, kicking at a puddle himself. "I say this with no sarcasm, nice weather we're having isnt' it?"

A rather Emo duck peers out at her, water dripping from it's bill. It shakes water off it's feathers.

does pippi speak duck?

Pippi smiled and splashed her way up to him.

"It certainly is!"

Like water off a duck's back.

"Awww, hey little fella." she said holding her hand out to it. "I thought you guys liked rain."

((Ooc: No but she's very good with animal body language. Particularly after Pip's time as a gosling. She'll get the gist of simple things. Like "I'm sad", or "I'm hungry", or "I want a smoke"...))

The duck looked as if it had forgotten about that. It did rather like the rain it supposed, just not at that moment.

The duck was, as much as a duck can, feeling rather lost about it's place in the world.

"Quack."

Tim still had the umbrella over his head, mostly because it would be silly to have it and not use it. Besides which he liked the sound the rain made when it hit it.

"I used to be one of those kids with the big raincoat and hat and galoshes." he grinned. "My dad loved the rain too."

"Are ya lost?" she asked it. "If you're hungry, I think I got some pancake with me still."

And she did have some cold pancake in her pocket wrapped up in some wax paper.

"So does anything bring you out here besides rain?"

Pancake. It knew that word. The honorable one had said it once or twice in reference too...

It looked interested. But still wasn't sure just why it was feeling so unhappy. Maybe, just maybe he missed the human. The one who'd defeated him and yet helped him. The honorable one who'd given him such a splendid sounding name.

"Well I'm ostensibly making my way back to the dorms." Tim said. "And thinking this would have been a great setting for my emo plot."

"Come on out." she said holding out some pancake. "I can't help you if you're just going to sulk under there."

Pippi tilted her head.

"Emo plot?"

There might have been an air of humph about it as it came out. Ducks don't sulk. The brood. Sulking was for Geese.

Ducks were proud. But it still accepted the pancake. it tasted...right. Not that it didn't like more natural duck foods, but, it had tasted some human foods during it's recovery, and it really liked them.

"Artie was, possesed by an Aluminum Siding Salesman or something." Tim explained. "I don't know, but he wasn't acting like himself. Which no one believed me about!" he called out to the town in general.

"But since I'm leery of hitting people with chairs, I had the idea of affecting a massive Emo attack to remind him of his purpose. Cause he's the one who warned me about it in the first place. Of course that would have required him being out here in the rain too."

He shrugged. "But apparently the problem has been fixed."

"Awww, don't be mad." she said. "I don't get to talk to ducks very often."

"Oh? Oh! Oh.... huh." she looked around.

"Well, as long as everything's okay now."

"Sounds like it from what the radio said." Tim told her. "Got my first detention on friday in Artie's class. I'm pretty sure the rest of the class figured out Artie wasn't himself that day."

he grinned. "I'm starting to feel like the old man in the horror movies. The one who warns the kids bout the monster, but no one believes him."

Wasn't often humans bothered to actually talk to ducks. Saigo (as Clark had named him) had rather thought that's what caused his earlier disdain for them, and his subsequent offensive.

The honorable one with the glasses had changed that.

Saigo took her statement as an apology and declaration of respect. And accepted it.

"Quack." he said.
