All over the island

Having received an emergency call this morning, the troopers are now on high alert. While the normal patrols are still up around the town, the rest of the troopers have been divided into several groups and are disappearing in different directions in the hopes of finding the missing student. It's not exactly the same as shooting at the bad guys and saving civilians, but it's still helping people and that's what Fandom Troopers do.

Blair was trying very hard to not be seen following the troopers. Which involved a lot of peeking around corners, hiding behind his newspaper and ducking behind trees.

The troopers were concentrating too much on finding a girl, that they didn't pay much attention for the teenager. Apparently they were also able to look for a very long time without taking a break.

After a while, though, the Sergeant of Search Party C-07 halted his patrol.

"Company halt," he shouted and the troopers halted and broke off order. "Take five!"

The troopers started relaxing and some of them pulled small water flasks out of their belts. Other reached for chocolate bars which produced some sniffling and woeful comments.

Blair bounced excitedly behind the tree where he was hiding. Hopefully whatever was in those flasks couldn't be drunk through their helmets.

One trooper was already reaching to undo his helmet, tipping it up slightly when suddenly the one beside him laid a hand on his shoulder.

Confused, the trooper lowered his helmet and then looked at where his companion was pointing. Which happened to be at a bouncing student.

"Crap." Blair ducked behind the tree when the trooper pointed. "crapcrapcrap."

One of the troopers approached the tree and cautiously stuck his head around it to see who had been bouncing there. "Sir?"

Blair briefly wondered if keeping his eyes closed would mean the trooper couldn't see him before he looked up. "Hey there, man. Beautiful day out, isn't it? Nice for walking around and...um...hugging trees. That's all I'm doing. Hugging a tree. Nothing wrong with that, right?"

The trooper blinked. "If the tree is alright with it too, sir."

Blair blinked and looked at the tree oddly. "Um...how would you tell?"

This confused the trooper. "Why would you hug something that you aren't sure would enjoy it?" he wanted to know.

"Have the trees said something to you about me?" Blair was a little worried and he took a step away from the tree. "I didn't ask them first, but I wasn't really thinking about consent at the time."

"If you care to hug them, you should," the trooper told him because you should be considerate like that.

Blair looked from the tree to the trooper and back again. "Uh...okay. Hey there...tree. Do you mind if I hug you?"

The tree didn't answer.

The trooper looked at Blair. "You need to work on your tree communication skills."

Blair nodded sadly. "Yeah, I guess I do man."

"Sorry I hugged the tree without asking it first, trooper guy."

The trooper nodded. "Just don't do it again," he told Blair.

"Yeah, man." Blair nodded and looked over to where the trooper had walked over from. "You can go back to what you were doing, man. Don't mind me."

Maybe he'd still be able to salvage his mission before he went back to his room and cry about violating trees.

Sadly enough, the 'take five' was over by now and the group was waiting to get back on their search.

"Have a good Sunday, sir," the trooper said before heading back towards the others.

Blair grumbled at the sight of the other troopers getting ready to get back to work. "Just my luck."

He gathered up his newspaper and with one last forlorn look at the tree, he headed back to the dorms.
