Movies in the Park, 10/25

The portable screen has been set up once again, and people are beginning to stake out their favorite spots. With the weather cooling off, outdoor gas heaters have been set up in various locations around the cinema area.

Bring your date or meet your friends, or just find a quiet place to enjoy a good movie. The film begins at dusk.

[OOC: The movie begins at dusk, and the screen will be removed afterwards. OCD threads will be have been set up for your movie-going use. Anyone who needs the park for other purposes will find that the outdoor cinema takes up only a portion of the park, with plenty of space available for non-movie needs. This is the first in a series, which will run every Wednesday until mid-November (barring an unexpectedly cold autumn).]

Angela came prepared with a picnic basket carrying the last few leftovers from her weekend visit, and spread out a blanket. She was wearing a thick sweater and sipping hot cider against the chill.

Marty, for once, was not wearing a suit but jeans and a sweater. He was also carrying another blanket. "Are you warm enough? We could find a space closer to the heater."

"I think I'm good," Angela said. "I have my sweater and my cider and ... well, you."

Marty smiled and sat down on the blanket, "Well who can refuse an offer like that? Do you want to use the extra blanket now? Or should we just dive into whatever you have in the picnic basket?"
chasingangela: (ha ha i was right)

"I'm hungry," Angela decided. "We have, um, a chunk of chocolate cake, and a little pate, and pita bread and tabbouleh, and olive spread and some grapes. And possibly a few other things." Her mouth quirked at the odd assortmwent. "This is what's left of what my dad bought and made this weekend."

"Mmmm. Food," Marty said peering into the basket. "Dibs on the tabbouleh. Having your father here last weekend was such a relief from the standard food blahs her in fandom."

After doing a little bit of looking into this week's movie-in-the-park, Chrono knew that, if a movie about spies and love affairs didn't get Rosette in a better mood, well, it was hopeless. Would have to call up Remington that night and tell him that somehow, something had sucked away her soul.

So he took the initiative to make the picnic up, lay down a blanket, and virtually drag her there while still balancing the basket in his arms. "Come on, Rosette, you liked the last movie so much, and this one'll be good, too. And look. I brought wine this time, see?"

...Okay, Rosette had to admit. The wine helped. A lot. She sat down on the blanket while Chrono set things up, and smiled a bit. "Thanks, Chrono."

After getting off duty at the clinic Wilson had headed straight back to the apartment. Once there, he showered and changed into warm, casual clothes with one of the angel’s sweaters being tugged on over a turtleneck. The sweater was one of Phale well worn ones and so hung down off Wilson’s hands a little and swirled lightly down a bit lower than his hips.

Then, he’d pulled the new picnic basket (http://www.picnicfun.com/products/pioneer-picnic-basket) he’d picked up out of the closet where he’d hidden it and began to pack it.

Needless to say, he’d gotten the tartan trim.

Packing up a meal of gravlax and toasted bread, deviled eggs, chilled asparagus wrapped in Italian ham –with a few simply wrapped in fresh mozzarella- and caponata picnic sandwiches (http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_27264,00.html?rsrc=search) he added a bottle of a nice Chianti and some biscuits for dessert.

Slipping on his leather jacket, Wilson headed down to meet Phale in the park, the basket hung over his shoulder as he picked his way towards the movie spot. When he spied the angel sprawled out on a tartan blanket he grinned and called out.

“Hey there, handsome! Need a date for the night?”

Ahh but he loved angel blushes!

Angela took a bit of pita and smeared it with pate. "I never knew how much I would miss his cooking until my first year here," she said. "Maybe he could be like Rory's dad and move here." She made a face. "Though that would be kind of weird."

"Awww. You mean you don't want your family here watching your every step?" Marty joked.

Leaning over he gave the angel a kiss, then settled himself down on the blanket. Somehow, he was not surprised to find the temperature around their little spot to be just perfect for snuggling under a blanket later.

"It really wasn't that much trouble, lover mine. I was able to prep out a lot last night and I figured you deserved a treat for putting up with my rather insane hours recently."

Reaching for the cork screw, he began to break into the wine bottle.

Picking up a few deviled eggs and the asparagus to start his meal, Wilson was more than happy to come in close and snuggle up against the angel, using his lover shamelessly as a backrest.

"They're doing well. Marie checked out, yesterday I think and so long as he has another good night I think Zuko will be ready for release tomorrow."

Biting into an egg, Wilson smiled and simply enjoyed the gas heaters dotting the area.

"Oh! That reminds me, are you helping a young student named Lyra?"

Reaching for the other blanket, Wilson began to make them a little nest of shared warmth while frowning worriedly at the same time.

"She stopped by my office hours yesterday to talk about why she missed her test and my Philosophy class, twice. She had a note from where she's been getting medical tests over on the mainland and she mentioned talking to you about her problem."

"I think that might not be a bad idea." Wilson said in regards to Phale at least talking to Lyra. "Even if you can't help, it's got to be pretty scarey, being this far from home and having something like that happen. You'll probably help simply by being there." He pointed out and snuggled on in closer.

"So, what's the movie tonight...or...uh...do we care?" He said with an impish light in his dark eyes. Hey, a lot could happen under the cover of a blanket and close snuggling.

Indeed!

That twinkle in Wilson's dark eyes promised that there would be not much in the way of movie watching.
