Sparky Repairs, Saturday

Despite being rather tired from yesterdays events, the Hitachiins opened Sparky's. They weren't looking forward to whoever was coming to pick-up that trashed cash register. Mainly because they'd left the job to John and weren't sure how far he'd gotten yet. Of course, that wasn't so much on their minds as this 'Sparky's Party' Teddy had suggested last night. The twins busied themselves with putting up more Christmas lights around the shop's counter and door as they waited for customers, using the ding bots as stepping stools every once in awhile.

Sparky's is open.

Jane walks in at some point in the day.

"Hay there boys."

Please don't be creepy. Please don't be creepy.

Mercer was taking his time wandering through the town; it was so tiny it was fascinating, and in all the places he'd lived he'd never seen any place quite like this.

"Hello?" he asked, peering into the shop.

"Oh, just curious about the sort of business you do here," Mercer replied, a little surprised that they'd spoken in unison. "I'm visiting in town, you see, and just doing a little exploring."

Gah. Creepy.

Jane maintained a neutral expression.

"You said to come back on Saturday about the register thing... So... Here I am."

"So, not ready yet? That's fine." She leaned in like she was telling a secret. "I don't ever use the fucking thing myself, but Apu's got a thing about contraptions it seems."

"Alrighty, no rush. Thanks."

Mercer chuckled softly. "I was wondering more about what sort of things you tend to repair. And --" he gestured to the dingbots -- "what are these?"

JOhn hobbles his ass in. Really. THe nerve of his place of employ being so far away.

This would require changing. And by 'changing' he meant 'go cart'.

John finished up Billy's leg, cobbled together a working cash register that somehow counted in Roman numerals, and started working on a single person gokart that could accommodate a cast.

"Emotional?" Mercer gave them an alarmed glance. These days, any technology that was too advanced tended to worry him. "You don't mean they're sentient, do you?"

"Intelligent," he tried to explain. "Capable of thinking on their own, making decisions."

"I see." Mercer raised an eyebrow and watched the bots for a few more minutes. "That's . . . comforting, I suppose."
