Logan surveyed the boxes of decorations and ornaments that the deliverymen had brought earlier. The tree was in the living room, eight feet tall and filling the house with the scent of pine. There were cookies on the coffee table and cider and eggnog in the fridge for anyone who got hungry, and Logan was hoping there'd be people to eat enough that he'd not be stuck with leftovers for weeks.

He set up his computer to play randomly from a flash drive devoted completely to storing Christmas and holiday music and opened the first box. Oooh, garlands!

[OOC: Post is open all day! Anyone's welcome, but if you're not a housemate, please ping in outside first. If you think you would've been invited, feel free to handwave. Same as what kind of decorations are in the boxes.]

The house is not yet decorated, but there's a couple of boxes of lights and various decorations on the porch, waiting to be put up.

"You hungry?" John asked Zoe as they both came downstairs from his room.

"I could eat," John replied with a faint smile. "I can cook us up something..."

"I could tell you about some of the food Mal cooked for us over the years, but I think that would ruin both of our appetites."

"I'll keep that in mind if he ever invites me to dinner when I meet him." John opened the fridge. "Burgers okay?"

"Burgers are perfect," Zoe replied, before getting mentally distracted trying to imagine what a meeting between John and Mal would be like. She'd have to get all their weapons away from them, that was certain.

John nodded and began getting out everything he needed. "Sounds Christmasy in here," he commented.

Zoe laughed lightly. "Yeah, you seem to have some very festive housemates. But I get the feeling that you might not be big on Christmas spirit?"

"Bit too close to November," John said with a sad smile. "I've tried to do something most years for the boys' sake, but it's been difficult to pretend my heart was in it."

"For some reason, I think I can do a little better in the Christmas cheer department this year," John told her with a smile.

"Funny that," John said, throwing a grin at her over his shoulder as he put the burgers on to cook. "Guess this is proof that anything really can happen in Fandom."

Somehow, Zoe managed to keep a straight face as her mind wandered down a dirty path involving whipped cream and her present company. "Much, much better," she agreed.

Thursday returned from a walk with Friday and Pickwick. She took Pickwick off her leash and set Friday down in the living room. "Hello!" she called to the house to announce her presence. Her roommates weren't exactly the type that were good with being surprised by someone's presence.

The wicked grin that John shot her then hinted that his thoughts might have been travelling along similar lines. "We'll have to remember the whipped cream for later."
