The Perk [Thursday evening]

Anakin was tired of being in his room, but wasn't exactly up for a night at Caritas.

He wandered down to the Perk, ordered the largest mug of black coffee they sold, and amused himself by writing to Jaye on his datapad.

Voluntarily out in public--it was progress.

Rose arrived in the Perk, chuckling from her latest email from Jaye. E-mails, connection to everywhere? She loved her superphone very much. Yes. After getting the most sinfully sweet frappucino from the counter she turned and spotted Anakin. She grinned.

"Anakin, hey."

Greg needed caffeine like a big caffeine-needing thing. So he wandered down out into town and ordered himself the biggest mocha with extra chocolate.

And then he noticed who else was there.

"Dude!"

Anakin hit "send" on his last message with a mischievous grin and looked up. "Hello! I understand I didn't properly extol the virtues of Obi-Wan."

"Well, a girl does need more than the bit you gave me last Monday." She said then gestured to the chair, "May I?"

Anakin didn't try to hide behind his coffee.

Really.

"Hello, Greg," he said with a nod.

"Duuuuuuuuuude!" Greg said, hurrying over. "Hi! I heard you were back but I also heard you died but I guess you didn't but your hair got different what's up with that?"

The scary thing was that he hadn't had any coffee yet.

"Of course," Anakin said. "Please join me."

Wilson was after a quad latte. He had a deadline that had been pushed up on him and an all nighter staring him in the face, thus...high levels of caffiene.

Reading over his notes on a clipboard, he placed his order and stood off to the side, waiting for the 'extra hot' part of the coffee fixing process.

"Deep breath," Anakin said with a more genuine smile. "I'm a little older than I was when I left. I lost the Padawan braid years ago."

Anakin gave Wilson a small smile. "The dark roast is pretty good tonight, too," he offered.

Rose did so, "Jaye's going to show me her Obi-Wan action figures." She smiled at him, "All thanks to you for bringing it to my attention, of course."

"Why?" Greg asked, crestfallen. "You didn't like it?"

Looking up Wilson smiled, then his brows knitted together pensively and he racked his brain furiously trying to place Anakin's face.

"I should know you," he said in a thoughtful tone, followed by a quick, easy grin. "Especially if you are a fan of a good dark roast."

[ooc: If I recall correctly, Wilson met Anakin at least once back in Fall of 2005 and that's what he's trying to remember, nothing Vadar related. :)]

"Any time," Anakin said. "Obi-Wan taunting was my favorite hobby for twenty years or so."

"I had the same look for almost fifteen years," Anakin said. "I got tired of it."

Rose smirked, "What a coincidence, it's a favorite hobby of mine as well."

Greg bit his lip. "Your hair's long enough to spike now...."

Anxiety flashed in Anakin's eyes for just the briefest moment. "I was a student here years ago," he said. "Does that help?"

"But you didn't know Obi-Wan," Anakin teased.

"Don't even think about it," Anakin said, eyes sparkling. "Fix Luke's hair or something."

"That must be it," Wilson agreed with a nod, turning to thank the barrista who handed him his coffee and then giving Anakin another good natured grin.

"I believe this is where I say something trite such as, 'you've grown' but I think instead I'll just say, it's good to see you again."

"Already did," Greg said cheerfully. "So what is new, oh em gee?"

He plopped down at Anakin's table without waiting for an invitation.

Anakin cracked up. "You didn't!"
