The Devil's Nest; Saturday [ 04/21 ]

If it was even possible, Setsuna was even more quiet and dispondant and wrapped up in her work tonight than she was the night before. She certainly worked hard when she was like that, though. Drinks were never made faster and yet with such diligence before in her life.

Not that she had a lot of experience in making drinks, but, y'know...

Setsuna's not even going to bother with the fake smile today, but she'll get you your drink. That's what counts, right?

Setsuna was slowly working on a plan to better handle all the crap she has to see go on in this longue sometimes. Like brain bleach. Brain bleach would work.

Who the hell has that annoying, bouncy J-Pop in the system? If Setsuna found out, she'll kill them. Simple as that.

...Sorry this is late! I was actually getting that paper worked on! =D

"I generally prefer my employees to at least pretend to enjoy their jobs," Lucifer said dully. And no, he hadn't been at the bar a moment ago.

Setsuna was probably distracted enough that she wouldn't have noticed Lucifer even if he was. "I pretended yesterday," she offered, with a sigh as she set her eyes sharply on him. "My apologies if I don't feel as up to the task tonight."

"I see," He replied. "And what exactly made tonight different?"

Setsuna thought back, briefly, to a few of the things she knew about Lucifer before, sighing, she explained, "I'm sure you can at least sympathize for feeling frustrated when something you're used to have a control over slips through your fingers."

Lucifer stared at her, perfectly void of expression. "Oh?"

Setsuna stared back; her expression, an arch of her eyebrow, was her response. What was that supposed to mean, 'oh?' Did he expect her to say more that what was absolutely necissary by soliciting an 'oh?'

Yes. it did.

The girl was amazingly poorly behaved.

Well, she was raised by humans; what did he expect?

Setsuna drew in a breath, shifting slightly. Guess he did feel as though she should go on, despite the fact that she certianly didn't want to. "My personal business is just that, Lucifer. Mine. I don't exactly recall that being a part of what is expected of me in working here, so allow me to get back to doing my job and perhaps get you something to drink, should you like it?"

"No. But as I recall you came here wanting to learn more about your other half."

"I did," Setsuna said, "and I hoped that observing you would teach me something about the nature of that half, but the only thing I feel I've learned from you so far is how to maintain inappropriate flirtations with your employees and dancing." She shook her head, thinking about who'd actually broke the news to John, and what John had included with it. "At this point, from what I've heard, I'm better off going to that crazy nun and talking to her demon..."

Chrono? That was rich.

Lucifer couldn't help but laugh now.

Which quirked Setsuna's eyebrow a little. "What? I know he doesn't look like much, but, apparantly, he knows what he's talking about. Seems to know enough about me, anyway, from what I've heard,and I've never even talked to him."

Oh, it had been some time since he had last seen the little demon. He'd have to corner him in the confessional before he left.

"By all means, ask him whatever questions you might have." The knowing smirk never left his face.

Which actually, Setsuna was thinking, despite that grin on Lucifer's face that made her want to roll her eyes, didn't seem like a bad idea. Because Chrono was pretty much living the thing that the only question she really had, the whole issue of interaction with humanity. Setsuna's mouth opened, as she went to ask Lucifer what his opinion on that was, a demon, living with a nun, but then her mouth snapped shut and she grunted.

She wanted that nun as far away from her thoughts as possible, thank you very much.

"Maybe," Setsuna responded, lamely, after another moment, with no intention of ever going anywhere near that church in the remainder of her lifetime.

Of course Kabuto wasn't here just to make Setsuna squirm. Why would he do something that petty? He was only here because he wanted a drink. Even if he had to go behind the bar and make it himself.

Setsuna was actually just surprised that Kabuto stopped for a drink this time. She lifted her chin in acknowledgement of him. "What can I get you?"

And, yes, she also decided that her crusade in enforcing the carding rule was going to be a hopeless endevour with him. Nor did she really care tonight, either.

Yeah, carding someone who could just ignore you and get it himself wasn't very effective. Kabuto grinned at her. "Jack and Coke, if you don't mind." He looked her over, then tilted his head to the side slightly. "You look out of it. What's wrong?"

My, wasn't everyone just talkative tonight. Setsuna grunted a little in distaste as she went to go mix Kabuto's drink, not responding until she set it down in front of him. "I've had a rough couple of days," was all she was willing to offer at the moment.

"Oh, that's too bad. Trouble studying with finals?" He was being overly polite, and on purpose. Sipping his drink, Kabuto watched Setsuna with just a bit of a smile. "Or something else?"

"I've never been one to concern myself much with matters like academics," Setsuna responded, observing Kabuto for a moment as if to analyze him, wondering if he was always this superficially congenial, or if she was really just in that bad of a mood right now.

Kabuto was always superficially congenial. It was his thing. Politeness was just something that he did. "Ah, I see. So you've given it up as a lost cause, then. So what has been bothering you?"
