The Perk: Morning
Dale.. is in heaven.
"Excuse, me miss?" Dale said waving down the barista. "This has to be the best damn cup of coffee I have ever had."
The barista just nodded and went back to work as she ignored the nut in the suit.

For now, she
handwavilyordered a muffin, a cup of coffee, and a saucer of milk. She was given a funny look but it didn't matter and she didn't explain. As she made her way towards a table near the window, she paused by the gentleman in the suit, offering a friendly, "Good morning."

Granted he had no idea where he was or how he got there but he had coffee. This is the first step to making everything right.
"And may I say that is a fine looking kitten you have there."
no subject
She glanced down at the kitten in her arm and smiled, "Thank you, her name is Angel. And I'm Annette, Annette Hargrove." She shifted her pocketbook a little and extended her hand in greeting.

This would be interesting, she thought. A new gentleman come to Fandom. By why of dress she assumed he was a professional of some sort. Oh, she would have to find out!

"It would be my pleasure to help you in any way I can, Mr. Cooper," she offered politely. "Might I first ask what has brought you here to our fine
wackytown?"no subject
Dale paused for a second trying to think of how exactly to describe where he thought he was.
"Well I guess it could best be described as a portal to a place outside the realm of earth as we know it. The next thing I remember is waking up in the forest 14 years later and with an unfortunate case of amnesia."

She nodded, settling Angel on the table and allowing her to lap at the milk in the little saucer. Yes, it wasn't quite...right, having a kitten on the table where you eat, but Annette was certainly not thinking about that now.
"Fandom is like that. Portals. Aliens. Students turning into little kids. Your favorite toy suddenly talking and walking and telling you what the crap is going on." She shook her head and took a sip of her coffee.
"So what is it you do for a living?"
no subject
"Fascinating!" he exclaimed as he gave the table a playful thump with his hand before realizing he was asked a question.
"Um. Yes. I'm an agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigations. The suspect in question had abducted a friend of mine after performing a series of several murders while in a small town I was stationed at," Dale explained. "A town that, in some cases, appears to have some parallels with this one."
no subject
Oooh, now Annette was definitely intrigued by this man. An FBI agent come to Fandom. What could this possibly mean?
Important questions first though, "Were you able to rescue your friend? And I suppose since you entered that portal, you do not know if the suspect was ever apprehended, do you? That is sort of scary I think. And wow, 14 years later? I wonder if you just laid there during that length of time? I mean...did you wake up with your hair super long? Or was it like those 14 years just never existed?" Yes, she liked to talk, and ask questions. It was fun.

"Yes, we do, as a matter of fact. We have troopers and that's right, we have a new Sheriff here at Fandom. Though I have not met him yet. Of course, I have no reason to clash with the law mind you." She took a sip of her tea and wiped her kitty's mouth with her napkin, settling her back in her lap.
"So you are not here to investigate anything? Particular even?"

She finished up her coffee, still giving him that look, "But you are an investigative sort. It's just the thing to do, right? I would too if I were you. When I graduate next year I am going into the field espionage." Her eyes widened a bit at a sudden thought. "Perhaps I could...follow you around sometimes...you know...while you're being investigative."
no subject
"Espionage, eh?" Dale replied. "Well while there have been occasions that I've had to go undercover for the sake of an investigation, my main line of work has been detective work. And while I can't stop anyone from following me I must stress that the line of work that I do can be dangerous and should not be taken lightly and could have dire consequences."
no subject
This would be great. Annette could follow around a real live detetive doing detective-y things. And learn a bunch in the process. She could handle dangerous. Dire consequences too. She could talk herself out of most anything. That was something, right?
no subject
"You'll have to show me your equipment sometime Annette," Dale said not thinking of any kind of double meanings as he stood up to leave. "I'm sure a lot has changed in the last few years. Now if you will excuse me I really must check in with the police department."
"Oh waitress?" Dale said laying down some money on the table. "Please see to it that my young friend here gets a free refill. Including the cat."
no subject
"Thank you for the refills, that's very kind. I hope the rest of your day is pleasant and that things work out for you. See you later, Mr. Cooper." She said, giving him a little finger wave.
