The streets of Fandom, Friday morning

The transport landed fairly early, giving Jaina more than enough time to get her things together and check in and find where she was staying. She'd probably even have time to explore, but she couldn't count on that. Therefore, she took her time heading through town, checking out the buildings and what kind of shops were around. It was always good to be aware of what you were.

It looked kind of quaint. She'd been a lot of different places, never spending enough time in any of them to compare Fandom to any of them, but it looked... nice. Except for the interesting decorations outside what looked like a club. She had no idea what they were, but she'd just make sure to keep her lightsaber on her as much as possible. Shrugging, she kept on making her way towards the dorms.

After a late night celebrating Aeryn and John's engagement, Luke was hating himself a little bit for his body's need to wake up with the sun.

He walked towards town to pick up coffee and smiled politely at the slightly familiar-looking girl as he walked past her.

"Morning."

Jaina started to smile politely until she actually saw him, at which point she stopped walking. The "hi" probably sounded like it should have been a "wow".

"You're new here?" Luke asked, giving her another smile. "I can help you find your way around if you need a hand. My name's Luke."

"I think I'm ok- You know, I'm sorry, you just look remarkably like my uncle. Named Luke," she says. Because of course it had to just be a weird coincidence. Because Jaina was just brand new.

"He must be a great guy," Luke decided, eyes shining. "Where do you come from?"

"For all intents and purposes, let's say Coruscant," she says, not sure whether anyone here would have heard of it. "My name's Jaina, by the way. Jaina Solo."

"You're from my galaxy!" Luke said as the pieces began falling together.

"Um. Your mother wouldn't happen to be Leia Organa, would she?"

All right, something was really weird here. "You know my mother?"

Luke shrugged his shoulders, then held out his hand. "I'm Luke Skywalker," he said. "I guess you're...my niece?"

"You can't be," said Jaina warily. "My uncle's in his forties. ...You're not a clone, are you?"

"No, that's..." Luke's eyes widened. "Who else have you met?"

"No one," she said. "I just got here. What's going on?"

Luke looked around for squirrels, then stepped closer and murmured, "what do you know about your grandfather?"

A little cautious about saying anything when she still wasn't sure what was happening, Jaina decided to go with her gut instinct and talk. "Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith who worked for the Emperor, did a lot of horrible things to put it lightly before ultimately turning back to the light before he died," she answered.

Luke nodded. "Except here he's not exactly, um...dead. He turned back to the light, died, and ended up in a cloned body of his that the Emperor had made for Force knows what reason. He teaches flight."

He watched her eyes carefully for a reaction.

Nice job, Fandom. You broke her brain ten minutes in.

"Vader's... alive. And here," she said slowly, trying not to give anything away.

"Anakin," Luke corrected. "And the link between the two's not common knowledge."

"Mara's head is going to just explode," Jaina muttered. "So you're telling me I'm not supposed to say anything about the link? Stay quiet?"

"Who's Mara?" Luke asked, then shook his head. "Not important right now. Anakin was a student here before going home, turning to the Dark Side and returning again. He has friends who knew him as Anakin, students who were taught by Darth Vader and some that know the entire story."

He ran a hand through his hair. "It's a mess, but it's his mess and he's working on it. Traumatizing unsuspecting students who aren't from our galaxy with our family's screwed up history...I didn't think it was worth it. You disagree?"

"No," Jaina said slowly. He definitely sounded like her uncle. "Look, things are obviously very different where I come from. I'm trying to get used to this as quickly as possible." She paused, breathing out. "You trust him?"

"With my life," Luke said, nodding. "I know that it's a lot to take in."

She resisted the urge to nod emphatically. That wasn't something she'd do in front of Luke, even if he did look a little on the young side. "Okay," she said. "This is so weird."

"You don't know the half of it," Luke murmured. "Anakin...looks about 25."

"Oh, wonderful. My grandfather and uncle are both my age. We won't get funny looks at all," she said.

Yeah, they were totally related.

Luke snickered. "We're pretty much a walking joke about Tatooine, yeah," he admitted.
