Chilly Boulder Ice Creamery - Monday Afternoon.

Katara stood thoughtfully in front of the ice cream case.   A very difficult decision was ahead of her.  Whether it was better to stick with the ice cream flavours she knew she liked or if she should branch out into a whole new world of ice creamy goodness.  Or, perhaps, a malt.

Molly came in, bag in hand and walked up behind Katara. "I think I'm going to get the cake batter ice cream with raspberries," she said.

"I've never had cake batter," Katara said thoughtfully. "I'm not so sure. Maybe coffee ice cream with chocolate chips and raspberries."

She turned to give Molly a hug. "Hi! How was Scotland."

Molly hugged her back. "It was fun! Scotland is so cool."

"Literally cool?" she asked. "I looked on a map and it was way up north? Did you and Mel get to kill vampires?"

"We did!" Molly said. "Mel was very happy. And the weather was mostly overcast and much cooled than here right now."

"I'm so glad," she said, bouncing. She finally turned to give her order - chocolate with chocolate chips and raspberries - to the girl behind the counter.

Molly gave her oder too then turned back to Katara. "I brought you a present (https://vault2.secured-url.com/scottishmemories/acatalog/Arran-Sweater-Bear.jpg)," she said, holding up the bag. "I would have found you yesterday, but John moved flag football practice to the afternoon."

"Oh, thank you!" Katara said gleefully. "I heard that practice was moved and was going to go watch but my player was lazy then I got caught up at the beach." She took the bag and looked inside. "Awwwww, thank you!"

She pulled the bear out, looking at him and gleeing over the cuteness. "It's so cute!"

"I'm glad you like it," Molly said happily. "They raise sheep for wool in Scotland. That's why he has a sweater and the pattern on the scarf is called tartan. Every clan family in Scotland has a different tartan. I'm not really sure which one this is, if any." Molly might just be showing off the stuff she learned at the market on Saturday.

"Oooh, neat," she said, listening carefully even if she wasn't sure what a sheep was. "What kind of little animal is he? Is he a sheep?"

Molly chuckled. "No, this is a bear."

"A very cute bear," Katara said with a nod.

Their ice cream came up and she looked around the store. "By the window or the wall?"

"Window," Molly said and headed that way after she got her ice cream.

"So what did you do this weekend? Anything fun? Did you go to the thing on Friday?"

"Yes! It was fun," Katara said, following Molly. "Really, really strange, but there was a dragon there and people that played with fire but weren't benders and everyone wore a costume."

"Cool! No monsters attacked then?"

"Nope! ...which is kinda sad. We haven't been able to fight monsters for a while."

"It probably feels like longer to you," Molly said, "since you missed the flood."

She nodded, taking a bite of ice cream. "We got to fight a bit when we were home," she said. "But it wasn't quite the same thing."

"Yeah, I get that," Molly said, poking at her ice cream.

Katara tilted her head. "So what's going on with you? Other than Scotland and vampire killing?"

Molly got a far away look on her face and grinned. "I took Karal for a ride on my swoop bike on Friday," she said.

Ice cream on during the summer was the best.

Teddy bounced happily as he looked over the choices. "See anything you like?"

"Oh really?" Katara asked, looking at her friend closely. "Karal's cuuuuute."

Molly blinked and focused on Katara, expression slipping into something more neutral. "Yeah, I guess he is," she said with a shrug. Her blush said she knew he was. "We're just friends though. He's really nice."

"Are you riding Trenor again this Friday?" Katara asked innocently.

"There are so many...." Haku gaped. "Most of them I've never heard of. Oh mint ice cream! I think I'd like some of that."

"I don't know," Molly said. "I have talked to Karal since I got back. I stopped by his room earlier, but there was no one home."

"You should," Katara said with a nod.

"I did ask him if I could go riding with him again," Molly informed Katara. "So, we are going again, we just didn't set up a d- a time to do it."

Teddy laughed. "We can come back for any of the others you want to try."

"And I'll have... uh... Rocky Road," He said looking over the flavors.

Katara bounced just once. "Ooh, good. I hope you get to go soon."

Haku got a small bowl of mint ice cream, it seemed the safest for now. "What's in Rocky road?" He asked curiously.

"Chocolate, marshmellows and nuts," Teddy replied. "It's my favorite."

"Me too," Molly said. "My swoop bike is fun, but so is riding Trenor."

"Interesting," Haku said grabbing a table to sit down at. "Marshmallows are a herb, not a sweet where I'm from."

Teddy got his ice cream cone and joined Haku at the table. "I have no idea what they're made of, but they're really good."

He held out the cone to Haku. "Try?"

"I wish you could ride on Appa," Katara said. "You'd love that just as much. He's so much fun."

"Sokka told me about him I think," Molly said. "He's a buffalo with wings, right?"

"Ahh... sure?" Haku blinked at it a moment to take a small lick at the cone.

"You like it?" Teddy asked hopefully. More people needed to try that flavour.

"It's not bad," Haku admitted looking a little shocked at the sweetness. "Theres alot of sugar in there."

Teddy grinned. "Most ice cream is like that. You had any of the candy from here yet?"

"Nope, I can't say I have," Haku chuckled and shook his head, eating his own ice cream before it started to melt. "There aren't a lot of food that's I've tried here."

"If you think this is sugary," Teddy said, quickly licking as the ice cream melted on his fingers. "Wait till you try Pixie Stix."

"Pixie Stix? Do I want to know?"

"It's pretty much flavoured sugar," Teddy replied with a laugh. "Some of the best stuff you can get."

The ninja boy laughed. "Hmmm sounds tasty!"

"We'll make this a regular thing," Teddy suggested. "And next week I'll take you to Turtle & Canary to check out the candy."
