Post Office, Thursday

The post office was open, but Sokka wasn't at the counter.

He had a little arts-and-crafts area set up in the corner, complete with glitter, confetti, jello, pudding, paint, glue, mineral oil -- all sorts of things that, coincidentally, it would suck to have explode in your face.

Yes, Sokka was making exploding tags. And stuffing them into envelopes addressed to Umbridge.

Every now any then he'd screw up and one would explode in his face. Thank goodness the floor was tile and not carpet.

Evie had been catching up on summer reading, but thought that today was a good day to visit the Boyfriend at work.

"Sokka? Hello? Are you here?" She looked around hopefully. "I wanted to see if you wanted ice cream..."

Evie jumped at the BOOM! and then gasped. "Oh! Goodness! What was that? Was that Explosions homework?" she asked, curious as she leaned against the counter. "And yay! Ice cream! Possibly hot fudge sundaes!"

"Tags," Evie repeated, looking closely but not touching it. "Ninja class had these? Oh, why didn't I take that class?" She gave him a sad look, then looked interested. "You can put hot fudge *inside* the tag? How does it work?"

Sokka had said the magic word, 'science' and also, 'magic', and now Evie was dying to try this. "Chi? Where do you get chi? Oooooo." She looked around at the mess and then the other tags, and pointed to them. "Did you put Jell-O into those? Really?" She beamed at him. "It's just like America's Home Videos! Only better!"

"I have Qi? How did I not know this?" Evie started studying the other supplies Sokka had around realizing they were all inside the tags. "Paint! Like the fake bombs in class yesterday! And confetti, and-- where are you going to use all these?"

"Not really very... maybe?" Evie said doubtfully. "Hmm. I think I need to read more about this. Would there be books on it in the library?"

Evie's eyes got huge. "Sokka. Ohhhh. Ohhh, dear. Oh, you'll get in such *trouble* if she doesn't believe you!"

Evie gave him a very worried look. "But what if she's met the real Prince Zuko? Or, or..." She looked at all the tags, then gave him a perplexed look. "And why? I mean, I think she's rather authoritative, but-- is this just for fun?"

"Ohhhh." Well. It's not like she didn't know Sokka. She gave him a solemn look, and a kiss on the cheek. "I'll visit you during lunchtime, if you get Detention. ANd bring you pie."

"Pie from Jeff, God of Biscuits! Although I really really hope you don't get caught," Evie said, "But I will Stand By My Man."

Jake has a lot to answer for in Evie's musical tastes.

And Evie kissed him back. "And no one else's," she said happily, rubbing her nose against his.
