Anakin'd said goodbye to Rory again and had spent a long, lonely few hours making his way back down from Connecticut.
And an Anakin with too much repressed emotion was an Anakin needing to blow off some of it in lightsaber combat.
And Luke wasn't exactly talking to him, so he'd made a call to Qui-Gon and was now warming up waiting for the young man--that would never stop being strange--to arrive.
