Ami opened the store and sat behind the counter with a textbook. She was very interruptible though.

Jack walked in, all false bravado and elbows.

Ami looked up from the text book. "May i help you?"

"Yes. I'm interested in something to make this weekend not happen again," he said. "I was told I could find that here."

"This weekend? Oh you mean thinking you were someone else?" Ami had mostly taken that in stride. "Do you know what caused this weekend? Because picking the right protection really depends on knowing what you want to be protected from..."

He stared at her blankly. "There's more than one protection?"

"Oh of course." Ami said as she started pulling books down. "It all depends on what you need protecting from. Just like you would not use a shield where camouflage would be useful, you would not use a charm where a crystal will do."

Well, people who were Jack wouldn't. He'd just upgrade to a bigger gun and not bother with camouflage or a shield.

"So I'd need a charm and a crystal for when this happens again? People act like this happens all the time. That's not normal."

"Oh yes, this happens all the time. Snowmen attack. Or Jello dragons. Or we all get amnesia. Or we all turn into children. Or, our future children arrive." Ami nodded as she spoke. "It is perfectly normal here."

"I thought that class was kind of a joke," he said. "The 'Fandom Invasions' class?"

"No joke. We really do get invade a lot. Usually at least once a term" Ami smiled as she laid down on the counter every different kind of charm crystal or ward the store had.

"That's not right," he said. "The world's not like that. THis can't be...it's like I'm trapped in a hell or underground or something."

That was an impressive pile. He boggled.

"This is a special place. Didn't anyone explain?" Ami kept adding to the pile. Now there were also candles and incense. "If you go to the library, i think there are some books there on the history of the Island."

"Huh." Reading? Maybe. "Do...you have a bag for all this stuff? I don't see any shopping carts. I'd bring it back. The cart."

"No carts, but we do have bags" Ami pulled out the pretty shopping bags that were under the counter. "Are you goign to take them all? Do you knwo how to use them?"

"Sure I do. Light the candles, put the stuff on the door and the windows, sit back and be protected," he said with a scoff. Cuz he was clueless.

"Well, these" she said pointing to some of the crystals "go on your body. And these" she pointed to the incense "need to be lit in a circle. And these" she pointed to the candles "Only work on the correct day of the week."

"But it will work? If I do all this, then I won't be unmemoried?" He was really worried.

"Well, no guarantees. Forthat matter, no guarantees that you wouldn't turn into a cat or something for a day or two either..."

"Wait. What? That's a possibility? Where's the anti-cat candles?"

"Those don't exist. I once turned into a fish for the weekend. Complete with water."

"What if I turn into a fish? Or a cat? Or a fishcat? Wait. Those don't exist. That'd be a pretty funny animal, a fish with fur and a tail," he said, mid-flail.

"Relax. Everyone always turns back to themselves in time.

"That's not comforting for the part where it's during the whatever," he pointed out. "My luck, I'll turn into some sort of eight foot tall beast for Prom or something." If he makes it that far.

"I am sure people will take pictures for you." Ami said, completely not understanding.

He closed his eyes. "Oh, man, like I'd want a reminder if I turn into a monster for Prom." He opened one a crack. "That hasn't happened here yet, right? I'm in the clear?"
