Trooper Station: Wednesday

As it's been a quiet week, Dale has finished up all his paperwork and is currently relaxing by reviewing new forensic techniques and (of course) having a damn fine cup of coffee.

Coming in with an empty to go cup from what looked to be the Perk, Renee raised an eyebrow at him, tossing it in the garbage. "Do you drink anything else?"

"I have been known to imbibe the occasional beer," Dale said. "When there is no fear of criminal activity. I assume you've found the Perk to your liking?"

Faith leaned against the doorway. "Feel like I should do something to make these more interesting," she announced. "Not like break the law and shit. Just, I dunno. Juggle."

"You're welcome to juggle if you like," Dale said as he stood up from his desk and invited her to sit. "However I do ask you keep the foul language to a minimum. Would you like some coffee?"

"Right, I forgot," she grinned. "Boy scout. Gonna blush if I get vulgar. And nah, I can't juggle. But some coffee'd be great."

Dale restrained from sighing and grabbed a cup for his parolee. "Here you go. I see you are in better spirits this week."

"I'll have to see it to believe it, I think," Renee said with an amused snort. "And yeah. It's good coffee."

She hung her arm, smirking at him. "But I don't see any other coffee shops nearby to compare it too..."

"Good?" Dale asked with an astonished look on his face. "You've had better cups of coffee?"

"Got laid," she said cheerfully. "And, you know, no more plague. Dawnie's all right. How're you doing?"

"I didn't say that," Renee said, smirk widening at the look on his face. "Just that it's good."

Dale was in the middle of taking a sip of coffee and just managed not to do a spit take when Faith mentioned the whole getting... yeah.

"I'm glad to hear your friend is better," Dale said avoiding the topic altogether. "The job is going okay for you?"

Dale shook his head in an amused fashion. "Now Renee... as a colleague there are certain things I expect. Complete honesty, good hygiene and if you know of better coffee you have to share. I believe you are good on the first two so..."

And look at that, he got her to laugh. A short one, but it was still a laugh.

"I come across any, you'll be the first person I call."

"Love my job," she said, sitting down across from Dale. "Ended up getting a bit of the death-plague or whatever myself, but I'm better now. And my boss is a pretty cool guy. He, uh, he don't know about ... all of this? Am I supposed to tell him?"

"As long as we understand each other," Dale replied in a mock-serious tone. "Then I'm sure we're get along just fine."

"It may be wise to come clean with your employer," Dale reasoned. "If he needs a vouch of character he can check with me if you so wish."

"Like a house on fire," Renee shot back, looking as serious as possible.

Faith nodded quickly. "Okay. If I lose my job or whatever, I hope that don't break my parole." She tried to sound casual.

"Excellent. Are you prepared for another day of valiant paperwork?" Dale asked. "Of course I've already finished so all I have now is to drink more coffee and chat."

Renee made a face at her desk and the small pile of papers there. "We can always hope for a nice braid cutting," She suggested. "Maybe a petty theft?"

"Not at all," Dale said with a shake of his head. "You are just coming clean regarding your past. If you were fired because of tardiness or other reasons then we'd have to have a talk."

"Careful what you wish for," Dale replied. "The last time I even thought about complaining about being bored the station was invaded with raptors."

Miming zipping her lips, Renee sat down at her desk. "I'll keep that in mind," She told him, looking through the papers for what could wait and what needed to be finished now.

Then paused. "Raptors like birds or..." She felt damn stupid saying it. "...dinosaurs?"

"Dinosaurs," Dale replied matter-of-factly. "They didn't tell you that part?"

"Okay." Faith nodded. "I can do that. I've been good at showing up, doing my job, all of that. I ... think I kinda like it here."
