Devil's Nest, Wednesday Night 12/12

Kabuto was writing down everything from earlier that afternoon. Seeing people dressed up as "cowboys" was really too funny to go undocumented. The bar had been completely cleaned before he sat down to write, and Musubi was over on her side looking polite-yet-menacing. She was good at that.

(So I'm dealing with Car Issues tonight, so up early because it'll be sp until probably 7-8 pm PST. Ugh. I hate towtrucks so much....)

Where there is a Musubi and a Kabuto on opposite ends.

Very, very clean.

With Christmas music. He's amused by it.

OMG, car needs a new starter so I can visit my pareeeents...which is involving crazy amounts of towtruck-ness so I can get the car to the shop, then hop the ferry back to Seattle and get picked up and driven back to the apartment and then on Saturday or so I have to go get my car back...

YAY HOLIDAY STRESS.

After a long, unsuccessful day of looking for their cows, Johnny and Chris found the local watering hole and decided to belly up to the bar.

"This here ain't like no honky-tonk I ever been in," Johnny muttered.

"And that certainly ain't no honky-tonk music," Chris agreed.

"It sure ain't," he said, rasping his knuckles atop the counter impatiently.

"I'm 'bout ready to wet my whistle after the day I've had. What about you? Beat all I've ever seen. Them folks like that 'round here."

"Folks round these parts are a might bit crazy," Chris agreed, asking for two beers when the bartender came over. "And we never did find our damn cows."

"Yessiree, crazy as all hell," Johnny agreed. "I bet we'll find 'em come mornin', Chris. Lazy sumbitches is what they are."

After a very interesting ~~and handwavey~~ call from Isabel, Lana had gone out looking for her boyfriend and eventually had tracked him and Johnny down here.

She just stood and watched the two of them for a moment with a smile.

Chris nodded. "We just gotta find a nice place to set up camp tonight."

"Evenin' ma'am," Chris said, tipping his hat to her.

"Why hello there," Lana said with a smile. "So what's a cowboy like you doing in a bar like this?"

"Enjoyin' a beer with my friend here 'fore we make camp for the night," Chris replied. "What's a lovely lady like yourself doin' here unescorted?"

Johnny tipped the rim of his hat up a bit and turned slightly to look at Chris more fully. "Shouldn't be too hard. Think I saw a patch of woods not far off. Trees'll help keep the cold at bay." Not that he was worried about that.

"I'm actually looking for my escort," Lana said with a small smile. "I mean, clearly it wouldn't do for me to be out here alone."

"Should have some nice privacy, too," Chris said, keeping his voice low.

"I reckon that's correct," Chris agreed. "Lotta strange folk round these parts."

"Oh, you have no idea," Lana said, unable to keep herself from checking him out in his incredibly tight jeans. Oh, she was definitely going to have to get him to wear those again somewhere where she could then take them off of him.

Chris noticed her gaze and shifted uncomfortably in his seat. "You got a husband?"

"Well aren't you forward," Lana said, doing her best to look shocked. "Don't you think that's a question you should be asking of my guardian? I know you just-in-off-the-ranges cowboys can be a little rough around the edges, but really!"

"I can do with that," he replied just as low. "Been too long, Chris, these nights like these. Makes me not wanna go back sometimes, I swear."

"Ma'am, a married woman shouldn't be lookin' at a man who ain't her husband the way you was just lookin' at me," Chris said.
