Gabriel had spent the early morning trying to compose a letter to God, arguing that his confinement to this island was undeserved and, although it wasn't his place to critizise the ways of the Lord, after millenia of devoted service perhaps an explanation was in order. True, they hadn't been talking much lately, but that was only because they both had been incredibly busy. Right?

No letter ever got finished. It pained Gabriel to admit it, but he was very close to understanding what Job had been going on about.
