Wellspring Arms & Meditation Center, Friday

Rikku was in a pretty rockin' mood as she set up for her shift. Not cheery enough to start selling guns to people who weren't supposed to get them, or anything. Just saying.

The Wellspring Arms and Meditation Center was open.

And, look, here comes a Romeo to bother her, in standard Romeo way, burdened only by a small bag from J,GOB's. "Good e'en, Rikku."

"Romeo!" Rikku bounced. "How are you? Hiya! Ooooooh, are those for me? Uh. If they aren't that's okay, too, I'm just nosy. Hi!"

"Hi!" Romeo repeated, grinning back at Rikku. "It's one for you and one for me. Chocolate chip muffins."

"I have had a good week. You?"

"I ... totally have had a good week," she laughed, blushing. "I, uh, you know. The ... dance and all that. Ooooh! Good week, like, good-stuff-going-on, with Dojima? She looked awesome and oh my gosh, so did you!"

Romeo brightened even more at the name. "We had a second date on Tuesday," he said. "She is so bright, and so quick, and so lovely. I ... I like her greatly."

"And you looked wonderful at the dance as well, but is that the only reason yu had a good week?" he asked, not quite innocently.

"That's awesome," Rikku bounced. "I heard something on radio, yeah? About up on the roof and all that? Very nice. You have that whole romantic streak going, don't you? Ooooh, are you guys like a thing now?"

"I, uh," she laughed, scuffing the ground with her toes. "I left the dance early? With Reno. We ... we kinda might be dating after all. Kinda figuring it out as it goes. And ... I like how it's going."

"I fear it is a rather thick streak," Romeo acknowledged. "I am not sure exactly what we're doing? I think I might try to take things slow, just as an experiment."

"That's excellent news, about you and Reno. See, when you meet the right person, it gets much easier to swim."

"It does," she laughed. "Or maybe you just don't give a damn 'cause the water's too nice. Taking things slow is good, yeah? Gives you time to figure out where you both are and what you want and then it's not all crazy diving in and wondering what now and facepalming a lot."

Like she had totally done last week. Shhh.

"And I want to try not to mess this up, going too fast," Romeo said slowly. He'd been thinking about this a lot. "Maybe things would have been different with Brooke if we had taken more time."

"They might have," she said, considering it. "But they might not have. Maybe you guys just weren't meant to be anything more than the whole ... passing ships deal, and it wouldn't have mattered how you took it. Uh. Not that I think you should rush it with Dojima. Slower's gotta help. Right?"

Now she was confusing herself. Not that that was hard.

She was confusing Romeo, too, if that helped.

"I cannot know, or change what was, and I am not unhappy to have Brooke only as a friend," he said. "But I want more with Yurika, and if slow works..." he shrugged. "So things are good with Reno?"

"It's okay," she said quickly. "They're two different situations, with two different girls. I mean, it's not like there was one particular thing you did that ... you know. Talk to her. See what she wants, and go from there. Things kinda have a way of working themselves out, yeah?"

And she was blushing. "Y-yeah, they are. It's. We were taking things slow, then we kinda threw that out the window, and now I think it's just ... we talked, all, here's what I want, here's what you want, and ... it's good. I'm. Kinda surprised, I guess. Waiting for what's gonna go wrong. Crazy, right?"

"Yeah," Romeo agreed. "To things working out, not to you being crazy to fear they will not. But all we have is the moment, so all we can do is enjoy it."

"Which reminds me," he added in a segue that made sense to him, "do you and Reno have spring break plans yet? My big brother and I were talking about going to Florida to see a real ocean again."

"You're right," she said quickly. "It doesn't help to sit and worry, 'cause ... either they'll go wrong or they won't, and it's not gonna change things to sit and expect things to go bad. Right?"

"Ooooh, Spring Break?" She bounced on her toes. "I dunno, I haven't talked to him about it yet. Florida is awesome. Uh. The cops were kinda ticked, last time I was there? But that was months ago, so ... that's not gonna matter, right?"

Romeo looked amused. "What did you do to annoy the cops?" he wanted to know.

"Uh, theft, vandalism, and arson?" she laughed. "Plus some of the stuff we marked up was federal property and they get grumpy about that. We had a great time in Florida. It's all warm and sunny."

"So nothing serious, then," Romeo answered. "I will let you know if our plans leave the launchpad. I need to go somewhere warm and sunny, I think."

"Exactly," she grinned. "And oooh, please do! I'll be on my best behavior. Uh. And not get people in trouble and all that. But I'm so done with this winter stuff, you know!?"

"I had no idea it was so long," Romeo shivered. "I'll let you know soon ~~except the whole concept got jossed by the Mexico trip whee~~."

"It's over soon enough," she said gratefully. "Like another month or two, it starts warming up, honest. I was scared this place was like Gagazet and it was gonna snow year-round."
