Cafe Fina - Wednesday - [4/02]

As it was his first day, he made sure to come in early and get things tidied up. He wanted everything to be perfect when/if Kurogane or Fei came down to look in on him. He took some time to figure out what he wanted to make for the day (which was a thrill, really, even if he felt a little ridiculous for being so happy about it) but finally put out the specials board as he started to work on the food itself.

Browned Butter Chocolate Chip-Cherry Cookies
...he'd probably do up less most weeks, but he was trying to impress.

"..." Fai...was a little bit stunned. In a good way, of course! Shaking off the initial feelings of totally-startled, the blond man stole snagged one of the cookies. The sweet-tooth was totally incurable.

"Don't you think you're overworking yourself?" He asked, after a moment of just watching Liir work.

He looked up from one of the soup pots, his face flushed with the heat from the kitchen but still grinning.

"No," he said happily, skittering over to adjust the seasoning on the lamb. "Well, if you say I am, I suppose. I didn't mean to go overboard, of course, and I don't want to overuse your supplies. Have you tried anything? Is it to your liking?"

"I'm not very hungry right now," Fai admitted. "But it smells good. We'll have to get Kuro-ru to try some of it."

"Liir is a good cook!" Mokona announced, bouncing around the countertops and wearing an apron.

He blushed, which was a deeper, wine red at the cheeks beyond just the color caused by the kitchen.

"Thank you," he said to the little bouncing creature.

"I try. Andrew and I have discussed opening a restaurant ourselves, you see," he explained. "So I wanted this job for the experience as well as the money I can save up with the extra income."

Kurogane didn't go into the kitchen in the morning. In fact he didn't appear in the kitchen until about late afternoon, looking like he'd been out working.

Which he might have.

He looked around the kitchen in his normally gruff manner, his eyes resting on Liir for a moment before grabbing a plain bowl of rice and a bottle of teriyaki sauce. This place was wonderful for the easy food.

The bulky ninja grabbed a seat at a table there and began to eat in silence.
