Cafe Fina - Wednesday - 9/3

Liir made his way to work today about on time and slipped into the kitchen, ready to go. There wasn't anything special today on the menu, but he was making hearty, simple food and it felt good to do it. There was just something to a tomato sauce that was cleansing to the soul.

He had a new job and a day free of classes! Tony decided to celebrate with an actual proper meal. Andrew had recommended Cafe Fina, so he decided to check it out.

Tony stepped into the cafe and looked around, not sure if this was a "seat yourself" place or not.

A head popped out into the opening between the kitchen and the rest of the restaurant.

"Someone will be right--oh, hello."

"Hey!" Tony said, surprised, yet pleased. "I thought you worked in the bookstore?"

[Sorry, in and out today.]

"I do both," he said as he leaned near the opening. "I worked at the bookstore first and then, when they started hiring, I couldn't miss the opportunity. Can I get you anything?"

"The Apple Crumble sounds great," Tony said. "But I should probably have some other food, too. Any recommendations?"

"The penne ala vodka is nice if you like vodka sauce," he said thoughtfully. "The wraps are a little lighter, though. Anything to drink?"

"I'll try the penne," Tony said. "Can I get a Coke with that?" He wasn't sure if you were supposed to order Coke in nice restaurants, but he didn't know what you'd order instead.

"Can do," he replied quickly, asking the kitchenware to assist him with things, "and perhaps a sample of the lemonade to try, to see if you like it. I can have some rolls sent out as well, if you'd like."

"Sure, all of that," Tony grinned. "I guess Andrew was right. This is the place to eat on Wednesdays."

He blushed a little, then blushed again till he was the color of red wine at the cheeks. It looked almost comical on his pale skin.

"Oh? Well, um, I do try. I enjoy doing this after all."

"It shows," Tony smiled.

He bowed his head quickly, almost like a twitch before grinning a little.

"Andrew really said that?"

"Yeah," Tony said. "Friend of yours?"

He looked a little as if he'd rather go through dental surgery than answer that particular question but ended up shrugging.

"He-- we're, uh, working on that at the moment, I think."

"Ah," Tony said, understanding. "So, should I find a seat or do you have someone to show me to a table?"

"Just find a seat," he said, more pleasantly than he'd thought he'd sound. Mentions of Andrew always put him a little out of sorts.

"If you'd like to chat, there's a table near the window here. I'm sorry I can't come out, but I've got a class today this semester and I always feel a bit odd about leaving work for such so I try to make up for it."

He ducked back into the kitchen as he sent out a basket of rolls.

"How are you today, if you don't mind me asking?"

Tony sat down at the table Liir had recommended. "I'm pretty good," Tony said. "I got a job! I'm stage manager for the theater."

He grinned as he slipped behind the window.

"Oh? And shall I be bringing dinner for you as well?"

It was a joke, though rather amusing, considering.

"Very exciting. What does it entail, exactly?"

"I wouldn't complain if you did," Tony smiled. "The job apparently requires steady hands, the ability to build sets and common sense. And I need to read this." He pulled the copy of Much Ado About Nothing from his back pocket. "The language is pretty old."

"My father's reading it as well, considering," he said absently as he started in on the food.

"It's not my cup of tea, but I can't fault anyone for reading. Anything but romance novels."

He shuddered theatrically.

"I read romances sometimes," Tony admitted. "But that's because my ex writes them."

"Your friend you mentioned?"

He nodded.

"I remember. It certainly sounds like an interesting job, coming up with all the kind of silliness. Not that I mean to be offensive, but some of the language is just..."

Perhaps it was just in Oz.

Tony laughed. "No offense taken. I've teased him about it, too."

"What's terrible is I got to use it when we had... have you ever heard of a 'host' club before?"
