Streets of Fandom, Saturday Late Afternoon

John was brooding over the day's events as he stormed down the streets of Fandom, his dark coat billowing with the effort. He'd initially managed to one-up Bass by not falling prey to the hooker on the corner, but Bass had thrown him again by announcing the legendary Tony Stark was none other than his father.

Macchiato-drinking ass got all the good family. But it didn't matter, things were in motion to ensure him control over the Skywalker Diamond Mines on his 18th birthday. And then he'd show Charles Bass. Oh, he'd show him.

Today had been horrible, and Jaina was completely worried about her dear dear ailing sister who she also kind of really hated and envied, and was trying to rush her way down to the clinic to see her. However, when she saw John, she had to wander over, as you did. "You look broody," she noticed.

"Just thinking," he covered, not wanting her to know he'd been messing with Bass again. "What brings you to town?"

She immediately teared up. "Brooke's dying!" she sniffed. "I have to be with her, but I can't let her see me like this."

Ugh, girl drama. "Oh sweetheart, there there!" John reached out to comfort her. "What's happened to your sister?"

"She has a... rare tropical disease," she said, crying prettily. "I don't think she has much longer."

Brooke so hadn't said that.

"So, what does that mean for the family fortune?" John had his priorities here. "If she dies, do you get...everything?"

"I guess so," Jaina nodded. "Not that it matters. I don't care what happens to the family fortune. I just want everyone to be happy!"

He'd picked the wrong twin. Brooke would never be this much of a wet rag. "Of course you do, because that's what's important."

Jaina wiped at her eyes, nodding. "What were you thinking about?" she wondered.

"I thought I saw Rebecca today," John told her, voice dropping low. It was the safest part of his day to share. "It wasn't her, but still."

Jaina placed a hand on his arm, completely sympathetic. "That must have been so hard. Are you all right?"

"Yeah, it was weird, I think Charles Bass was trying to set me up," John sighed. "But I won't fall for his tricks. I have you now." He smiled at her to show he was happy. Really.

"Charles Bass is just a jealous sleaze, that's all," she said. Ignore the part where she'd had a secret affair with that jealous sleaze Charles Bass. The ratings had been dismal. "You're better than that. Remember that. Now, I have to go see my dear dear sister before something even more horrible happens."

"Go," John bent to kiss her cheek. "Call me if you find out anything." Oh that Charles Bass made him so mad. He knew about the affair but kept quiet because, really, the thing with the hookers was way worse.

"I will," she promised, and headed on to go visit poor Brooke.
