The Arms Hotel Lobby, Sunday

Mary worried that her scheming had gone just a little too well yesterday. While she was no closer to solving Turtle's murder and claiming the inheritance, she had easily convinced G'Kar to step in and help her raise her unborn twins.

Now came step two, where Mary had to actually find a pair of infant twins, or at least a woman who was pregnant with twins. You see, Mary wasn't actually pregnant. She figured she could keep G'Kar fooled a little bit longer, but she'd have to produce a pair of babies at some point. Fortunately Gunther, her father's evil henchman, had a plan.

Welcome to the Arms Hotel!

The hotel was open, and Mary and Gunther were waiting for someone to fall into their trap.

Yeah, okay, it was obvious the town was even more whacked yesterday than it usually was. Ray was just gonna try to ignore it for the time being. Still had some business to take care of he'd been stalling too long.

He arrived at the desk with his hands shoved firmly in his pockets. "Miss Connell? I'm here about the paying up for my room thing." Shoulda taken care of this earlier, really.

That's what stalling got you in this town.

G'Kar slipped away from the store for a few minutes to run down and check on Mary.

"Mary! How are you feeling today? Is there anything you need? Are you hungry? Would you like a pillow?"

He made his way over right to the counter and dropped a few catalogs on the desk. "I have something to show you," he grinned happily at her.

"But first, do you need a massage? How is your back?"

"Oh yes, of course! I was so preoccupied I hadn't noticed the buffet."

"I was thinking about the twins while at work." He could hardly think of much else honestly. "And I think I have found the perfect nursery (http://www.babysupermall.com/main/products/glj/glj40740.html) themes (http://www.babysupermall.com/main/products/glj/glj40540.html)!"

G'Kar was shocked. And slightly disappointed. "But... they are popular, modern themes. Perfect for either boys or girls since we don't know yet what..."

He paused and looked at her. "Unless you've just discovered the sex of the children? I do hope they're girls," he smiled. "Just think of all the pink! Won't it be lovely?"

"Of course, of course," he nodded. "I just couldn't help but wonder. Expecting children is so wonderful! I can't wait to meet the dear darlings!"

He smiled warmly at her. "I'm certain you are, dear," totally missing anything about her tone.

"I can only stay for a few moments, must return to the store. But Turtle would want us to endeavor forward."

He leaned forward a bit to keep any passerbys from hearing. "Any further ideas on the clue?"

"I must confess I have not had much luck with it either."

He nodded at Gunther, totally not minding the knife. "Good. He's a good man and I know he'll look after you."

He grinned at her. "An excellent idea! Why did I not think of that? I must have been so concerned over the twins that it didn't occur to me."

"I will head back right away and begin searching." He started to dash away, but turned and handed her the stack of baby catalogs. "Oh please do pick out something you prefer. I'll be happy with whatever you chose for the twins."

He bowed as he headed back out a second time. "Till we meet again, darling."

Huh. Still had it, apparently.

Which made Ray suspicious. "Yeah, if you get lonely, you, um... okay. How much's the tab?"

Okay. Ray got out his creditcard for that one. "I like kids fine. Very, uh, energetic." He offered her the card. "Is it just me or was there somethin' wacky going on yesterday?"

"Struck down? Did anyone report that at the station?" Had he missed something when he was chasing that fruitcake out of the bullpen or something? "I mean, are we talking murder here?"

Consoling the hysterical ones had never really been Ray's forte. "It'll, uh, it'll be fine. I'm sorry for your loss," he muttered, "Is there anything you know about the, uh, circumstances of the murder?"

He took the clipboard with an insanely skeptical look. "You do know that murder is a felonious act and should be, uh, handled by the proper authorities, right?"

He scratched the back of his head. "No, we are not," Ray said, or he'd have heard about it. "Drop by the station and we'll take your statement. Who's the lawyer?"

Ray was gonna stare at her. He was gonna stare a lot. "Okay, I've heard of direct women before, but lady, you take the cake," he said. "Um..." He shoved the clipboard back towards her.

Dot dot dot. Yeah. Um. He still attracted crazies, too, that was now unflinchingly obvious.

"Okay, uh. You need help. I'm just gonna take my card and go," he decided, turning away from the desk. "Um. Come by the station for your statement. Thanks." Whackos!
