MHA Lobby, Friday

The residents of MHA would probably either notice or hear a bit of a ruckus down in the lobby today. That was because Loki had taken it upon himself to start decorating the lobby for the upcoming holidays. He wasn't particularly fond of turkey (too dry) or eggnog (unless it was laced with something) but he did like decorating.

Just a little bit.

Shut up.

Of course, he wasn't the best at decorating. In fact, he really fucking sucked at it. There was a strand of lights looped around his neck like a necklace, some twinkling, some burnt out.

"Fucking lights," he grumbled. "One fucking bulb blows and the whole entire thing is ruined."

There was a turkey (not a real one) hanging on one wall, stapled to said wall with heavy staples. There was garland taped to the desk with duct tape. There was wreaths gracing the walls (some missing some of their needles) and there was a candle burning, giving off the scent of Christmas cookies.

"Work you fucking pieces of shit!" Loki nearly yelled. The lights didn't respond. In the background, Christmas droned on.

[MHA is open! Rent a room, talk to Loki, boggle at the decorations! Look, if I can't escape holiday decorations, I'm going to go overboard!]

It was fairly impressive when one could swear they'd heard the shouting from a few floors up.

"Need a hand?" Daisy offered, although she was thinking Loki could use a bit more than just her two for help.

"Could be a combination of the last two," Daisy grinned a little. "But I can't really claim any particular expertise. All I know is that with as big of a thing as you've looked to make this out to be, the more help, the better, and I've got at least a bit of time before I need to worry about being late for work."

Daisy laughed; she couldn't help it. He really did, considering that whole string included only one very minor swear until he realized it. She waded through some of the holiday paraphernalia, hoping to find some spare bulbs so that she could help track down the blackout culprit. "It suits you!" she chimed in. "About as well as those lights 'round your neck do."

"I said it suits you," Daisy corrected with a laugh, finding a pack of lights and inspecting them a moment before deciding if they'd do. "Make of that what you will."

A staple gun, at least, was a little better than a flaming sword. Not much, but at least the only infractions being made with it at the moment were against that poor wall.

Too bad there wasn't a home improvement store on the island, because then Daisy would know just what to get her landlord for Christmas; he'd need it once it came time to take all this fanfare down.

As if she was going to say no!

"Of course! I knew something was missing; that must be it!"

Dutifully, Daisy had stationed herself beside an outlet, plugging in a string of lights to verify that this was one of the shorted out, then, unplugging it, started to switch out the bulbs, plugging it back in to see if she'd gotten right one. Lather, rinse, repeat, but she didn't look one wick bothered by the ensuing tedium of the tasks she'd decided to contribute to.

"Betcha anything," Daisy said, "that it's going to be the last light on this string. Of course, if I just cut right to it, then it'll be somewhere in the middle. Wouldn't it figure?" She unscrewed the new light she'd put it to put back to the older, apparently still working one back in, and glanced up before moving onto the next to get a load of the hat.

"Awww," she said with a grin. "I like it!"

Daisy would have donned a hat like that in a second if he'd had an extra. She chuckled a little, fitting in another light, and feeling a bit sad for the lack of a second. "Would certainly make it easier if anyone was trying to avoid you," she observed. "I think it would be nice; all that jingling of bells! Almost as melodic as your usual string of conversation, Loki."

Or being ostentatiously challenging to a cop. Daisy lifted a slight brow, but that was that, and this was this, and she was still trying to decide exactly how the two should be separated. "I didn't say anything was wrong with it," she pointed out. "I compared it to the tinkling of bells!" Sarcastically, of course, but there really was a certain music in Loki's swears. "That's a good thing!"

"Clouds!" Daisy laughed. "Why clouds? Because they're light and fluffy with a 45 percent chance of rain?"

She was almost too afraid to ask what he intended on doing with the bows, so she didn't.

A few moments after she was sure Loki had finished, Daisy looked up from her work with a mildly impressed expression on her face, a wry, crooked grin, and a bit, as well, like a cloud that had just been blown right along by an unexpected breeze in from the west.

"Could be," she agreed, trying another light, though she was pretty sure he'd just about pinned her down perfectly right there. "That's pretty elaborate for just an assumption, though; you been thinking that one through?"

Well, she couldn't exactly deny it, as that would be lying. Daisy's head tilted slightly, moving steadily along the line of lights. "Oh," she said, "a bit here and there." Most of it police business. "A bit hard to avoid when a good chunk of my paycheck goes to you and everything."
