Trooper Station: Wednesday

Dale's title might have changed but his office hadn't. Dale elected to stay in his own office so he wouldn't have to deal with the hassle of moving. What did move in was a larger stack of paperwork, which Dale had mostly finished.

The work however was pushed aside for a moment as Dale was going over the more recent developments in Tibet's struggle for independence. Feeling somewhat despondent in the lack of progress, Dale went and brewed another cup of coffee and considered getting a cherry pie from J'GOB.

During one of his (many) breaks from dart throwing at MHA, Loki pushed his way into the police station once again.

If anyone asked, he was being social and all that shit. Really, he just wanted to know all the faces in the police department. They were almost as fun as the clergy sometimes.

Dale looked up at the young man and approached him. "Hello, is there anything I can help you with?"

"Just passing by," he said, crooking a thumb towards the door. "You're not new too, are you? This place is like a fucking hive, I swear."

Sarah shut the store down during her lunch break and wandered over to the station to see if her paperwork had gone through yet. She was itching to do more real work.

"Good morning, Sheriff Cooper."

"I've been in town for about a year and half," Dale said frowning slightly at the inappropriate language. "You've no doubt met some of our newer recruits who came on board recently."

He held out his hand for a handshake. "Allow me to introduce myself, Dale Cooper."

"Good morning, Miss Walker," Dale replied in kind. "How are you today? Coffee?"

"Some of them, yeah," he said, pausing momentarily before shaking Dale's hand. "Nice to meet you, I'm..."

Oh what the hell.

"Vance."

"I had some back at the shop," Sarah declined. "But thank you. I am really well, actually. The shop was profiled in the paper today."

... yes. She was going to be a dork about that.

"Vance," Dale repeated. "Very nice to meet you. Are you relatively new in town?"

"Ah, The school paper?" Dale asked. "I believe I was interviewed by them as well when I first came to town."

He paused for a moment to make sure no one was listening in before continuing. "I had a chance to follow up with your... employer the other day. Everything seems to check out."

"Pretty new," he said, nodding. "I've been keeping to myself, mostly. And the bar. The bar's one of my favorite places. Fucking zombies! I haven't seen any zombies since Halloween and those were just kids dressed up as zombies!"

"School paper. Nice reporter, too. she seemed like a sharp girl."

Sarah shouldn't have felt relieved at the rest of what he said -- it was only true -- but she did. "Thank you," she said. "Did the General have anything ... interesting to say?" She hoped nothing about Chuck or Bryce would have come up, but if it had she needed to be prepared.

"Yes our town does have its little oddities doesn't it?" Dale said frowning slightly. "Um... Mr. Vance, if you don't mind I'd prefer not to hear such foul language in the station. Would you mind curbing your tongue?"

"Only that any cooperation we could provide would be appreciated and that it was in the interest of national security," Dale replied. "All in all it was a very quick conversation. I assume you'd like to get started right away?"

Thank you, General, Sarah thought. "Of course," she said. "Would you mind talking to me for a few minutes first? Oh, and I already told Detectives Kowalski and Day -- is there anyone else on your staff who i might want to meet?"

"Well there's Ralph," Dale said nodding over to one of the troopers. "But you should probably keep any information requests to Daisy and Ray."

He motioned for her to follow him into his office. "C'mon in and we can chat."

"No sir," Dale said politely and grinned. "I just don't want the trooper to start speaking obscenities. It might give them ideas."

"Morning, Coop," Daisy, once settled in a bit and with a game-plan for the day, came over to the office door with a nod. "Spare a moment?"

"What kind of ideas?" Loki asked, glancing around. "Not too many people can get ideas from profanity other than using the profanity themselves."

"Certainly," Dale said pushing some paperwork to the side. "What can I do for you?"

"That's exactly what I mean," Dale replied. "I'd prefer our police force to be polite and well mannered."

Okay so Ray might be a problem but he didn't swear.

"Because cursing really affects their police work?" Loki asked, not sounding convinced. "And really, do you think anyone who's getting arrested is going to care if the cop's saying their pleases and thank you's or yelling at them to fucking the shut hell up?"

"We do not always deal with people getting arrested," Dale replied. "And since we work for the community it's always a good idea to put our best foot forward. Now tell me, Mr. Vance, what is it that you do here in Fandom?"

It was a testament to her training that Sarah barely raised an eyebrow at "Ralph."

"They're both good officers," she said, following along to his office. "I just wanted to ask if there was anyone in particular you'd been keeping an eye on, other than the person we discussed Monday. I've been working on a little list from the broadcasts."
