The Onsen - Afternoon

Ichigo had a small bag slung over his shoulder as he waited at the entrance to the Onsen for Ino. There were several things he was trying not to think of right now. One thing in particular kept popping up involving Ino and bathing suits.

Nope, he was going to stop thinking about that now. And he wouldn't think of it... Well, until he got inside, he supposed. Did he go crazy agreeing to this? Probably.

Ino bounced up, a bag slung over her shoulder as well, not even a few minutes later, and she beamed when she saw him already there.

"Weird," she commented with a grin. "I'm not the one waiting this time."

It made him strangely pleased, remembering her previous comments. "I don't like being late," he said simply. "Good thing they're not closing this place today."

"I would be sad if they had," she said, smiling, "though I'm guessing there's minimal staff about."

Not that an onsen was difficult for them to use, really, considering their backgrounds.

"Shall we?" Because, really, she was a bit cold.

"We shall," he grinned and instantly moved to the door to open it for her. "It's kind of cool having class off for a holiday you don't celebrate."

"It's weird," she said, rolling her eyes a bit at his chivalry as she stepped inside. "Thank you. And this holiday is okay, I guess. But I like the Christmas one better for all the presents."

He paused. "Do I need to start thinking of what to get you then?" he asked.

She nodded, bouncing a bit.

"You're on my list of people to get stuff for." Fair was fair and all that.

"You could go for a really cheap present and get me my shirt back," he suggested. The door fell shut behind him and instantly everything was so much warmer and Ichigo glanced around the lobby.

"It's my shirt now," she insisted, wriggling unzipping her jacket and wandering over to the counter attendant. "So you're just going to have to deal with whatever else I get you."

"I just thought I'd make the suggestion," he moved beside her. "I'll get this one," he said softly.

She flushed a bit at that.

"If you want," Ino said, smiling, "it is appreciated and all even though I'm perfectly capable of getting it."

"I know you are," he shrugged. "I want to."

The attendant was waiting patiently for them and looked at Ichigo. "For two people then?"

"Yes, please," Ino said, answering for him. Just because she could. "And thank you."

The attendant nodded and arranged everything with Ichigo before he explained where the changing rooms where and where they could find the bath. "There shouldn't be too many people in today, so you're free to enjoy the larger baths," he commented.

"Thank you," Ichigo said as he pocketed his wallet and started down to where the changing rooms were. "So um... I'll meet you back there in a few?"

"Works for me," she chirped, grinning and stealing in front of him so she could disappear into the women's change room.

Well, he would have been worried if she hadn't but that inevitably led to other thoughts that he quickly banished as they did nothing for his complexion.

"Later," he mumbled as he moved the other way to the men's change rooms. He changed quickly and went out to the bath the attendant had indicated, hoping to be there first. Somehow it seemed easier to be the first one in the bath.

It probably helped that, you know, it took her longer to get changed than it would for him.

"I'm going to have to start hurrying more," she noted, setting her towels down off to the side and letting him get a good look at her bikini. "How's the water?"

It did help, but not so much right now as he seemed to sink just a little further under the water. He wasn't so much staring as he was staring. Because it was Ino and she had a bikini on and... Bikini. Ino.

Wait. She'd said something. What was it again. Oh right. "Good."

Ino could have picked a lot meaner bikini, in terms of flail-inducing, but she'd decided against it.

She laughed, high and bright. "Do you even know what I asked?"

The laugh pulled him out of his staring and he jerked up, sitting more upright again. "Sure, I do," he said with a frown.

If he just focussed on her face, he could do this. He just needed to... Hi, bikini.

Bikini-clad girl that was grinning at him impishly as she slipped into the water with a happy little sigh.

"What did I ask then?"

He quickly sat up even straighter, his brain divided on flailing about a girl in the water with him while trying to remember what she'd said.

"You asked about the bath?" he said. He'd heard, it'd just registered later.

"So you were listening," and that amused her even as she eyed him. "You're supposed to relax in an onsen, not tense up."

"I'm relaxed!" he argued. For someone with a broomstick as spine, maybe.

"You're so not," she said mildly. "What's up?"
