Wellspring Arms [all day]

Biff was in the Wellspring Arms playing with his cell phone. After leaving Barney a message about Naked Week, the best week ever, Biff set up the store for another day of meditating Zen-ly.

Zen-ly was totally a word.

He was a little distracted by phone calls, but he was there to help you out, of course!

Biff definition of "helping you out" being slightly less helpful than average...

Having done practically nothing yesterday except catching up on sleep she'd missed Friday, Daisy was able to make it into Wellspring fairly early.

"Morning, Biff! Long time, no see."

"My phone?" Daisy asked, her head tilted, and then she pulled it out of her bag to have a look.

She was either supremely lucky or truly unfortunate that she hadn't had a single call so far today.

"No, looks just fine to me. Yours on the fritz?"

"Turned down?" Daisy blinked at Biff after she slipped her phone back into her bag. "You?"

[identity profile] justice-beat.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Daisy couldn't help a small grin, and a matching laugh. "So you think all the turn-downs are for him and they're just going to your number? You don't suppose he's been giving it out? Probably a good thing they're rejects then; maybe he's been slipping your digits to all the unpretty ones."

"Good luck with that around here," Daisy told him with a faint smile. "Although there is always that pirate. Or maybe the older fellow who owns the bar."

God, she hated those slow nights.

[identity profile] justice-beat.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Daisy was trying. Oh so hard not to laugh, hand to her mouth and everything, but it was a losing battle.

"Oh," she said, trying to shake her head. "You should. You really, really should."

She felt terrible, but not even close to terrible enough.

[identity profile] justice-beat.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Daisy grinned conspiratorially. "Oh, I think that all depends..."

[identity profile] justice-beat.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"On who the double date would be with," Daisy said. "I mean, if it were you and me, I don't even think you'd have to bargain much; that's good bribing material right there all on its own."

[identity profile] justice-beat.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"Isn't that Cafe Fina joint supposed to be nice?"

[identity profile] justice-beat.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Daisy wrinkled her nose a little. "Me, too," she admitted. "Only, you know, without the pizza and replace beer for vodka, but, point is, I'm not a fancy place type of girl myself..."

She looked contemplative, though, still deciding if that fact meant they should angle elsewhere, or if that made the whole idea just that much better.

[identity profile] justice-beat.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Daisy laughed, and gave Biff an odd look. "Why are you even thinking he needs to be in one?"

[identity profile] justice-beat.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, no, Daisy. You shouldn't. You really shou--

"Well, actually," she said, "he does owe me one."

How could she not, really?

[identity profile] justice-beat.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'll do my best, then, to make it so," Daisy nodded with a smirk. She pulled her phone out again, to make a quick call (http://headkickpoet.livejournal.com/561.html?thread=26929#t26929), knowing full well that having received her message so soon after Biff's might get Loki's suspicions up and maybe keep him on his toes a bit. And then she put the phone back.

"I'll bug him about the details later; I've still got to stop in for his plant this week yet, anyway."

[identity profile] justice-beat.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Daisy nodded. "I got him a plant. But you can't honestly expect me to think he'll actually take care of the thing. It's an orchid, very low maintenance, so I just make sure that he isn't killing the poor thing once a week."

She would spare the detail about it being pink; it was bad enough they were plotting putting him in a dress for a date with a pirate, really.

[identity profile] justice-beat.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"You know how they say," mused Daisy, grinning, "that talking to a plant in various ways effects how it grows? What do you suppose that means for Loki's orchid?"

Which, once she said it, she realized sounded like a horrible euphemism, and vowed to herself to never call it that again. Unless it was very funny to do so.

[identity profile] justice-beat.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"Okay," Daisy laughed, hand to her face although she wasn't actually very embarrassed; it was just that the snickering made her grin too much and also feel like she was about twelve, "so that wasn't just me who thought that. Good."

[identity profile] justice-beat.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, shush! Then why are you giggling?"

[identity profile] justice-beat.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
To that, Daisy could only roll her eyes. "You boys," she said, "and your insistence on being jerks. If you were a jerk, I wouldn't bother with you."

She got enough of those on the job without having to deal with them off-duty, thank you.

[identity profile] justice-beat.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
"And I do," Daisy said, preening a little herself with her firm insistence on that point. "If you are a jerk, it must be to other people, and believe me, I'm not complaining."

[identity profile] justice-beat.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm glad being a jerk to me must not be entertaining, then."

[identity profile] justice-beat.livejournal.com 2009-01-19 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Daisy considered that. "Very true," she agreed. "See, so you're clever, too! At least, you are when self-preservation is a factor, but that's when it most counts anyway."
