Cable was writing.
Sure, he had Irene on the phone every week, but there were times when the written word helped-- make him think. He'd been keeping tabs on the situation in Sri Lanka, seeing if the feelers he'd sent out while they were visiting were having any effect.
They seemed to be, but considering the nature of the multiverse, he had to wonder how bad the situation was getting somewhere else.
The Open sign was on the door, and Tether slept by one of the cases.
