MHA Pool, Saturday Early Morning

When told he had a single student for detention this week, Ronon had been almost disappointed. At least, until he found out it was John Sheppard.

The MHA pool wasn't so bad off after that Jason kid had set things up a few weeks back, but Ronon knew Loki appreciated free labor and what better way to make Sheppard spend his hours of detention than in a task that could benefit many?

So there was John, standing in the water with a scrub brush and cleaner, making faces and complaining that it was not warm enough for this treatment.

"Eternal detention?" Ronon asked, dragging a chair to the side of the pool and taking a seat.

"Yeah," John sighed and set the can of cleaner on the edge, shielding his eyes from the sunshine to look up at the teacher while he paused from scrubbing the winter grime off the side of the pool. "I needed a hobby and detention sounded pretty sweet."

"You should try knitting," Ronon suggested. "Or somethin' that doesn't ruin the weekend. Shouldn't you be out golfing or whatever it is you do?"

John raised an eyebrow. "You know, I really hate that you know another me."

"Yep," Ronon nodded, thinking he'd prefer his Sheppard any day of the week, too.

John's face looked thoughtful for a moment. "You know, you could like, advise me or something. Is there anything I should avoid doing in the future?"

There were things, but regret was not something Ronon messed around with. Things just were the way they were.

"Nope."

"Does that mean there's nothing I should change or that you won't advise me?" John asked, confused.

"Yes."

John frowned, not appreciating these answers. "Really? You're just gonna hang out while I clean the pool and give me nothing?"

"Nice day for it," Ronon assured him, smiling in the sunshine. "Might be a party out here later."

John groaned, getting back to work. "Great. That's just perfect."

Biff sometimes forgot that he didn't live her.

Also, his house didn't have a pool.

"Hey," he said, throwing down his towel on a nearby chair.

"Hey," Ronon nodded. "Come to watch the pool-boy at work?" He thought he was funny.

"He's not as good looking as the ones on the ship," Biff pointed out, "but it beats sitting at home." He thought he was funny too.

Ronon laughed, "That it does." Then he considered. "You don't live here."

"I'm friends with Loki," Biff said. "He won't kick me out."

"Loki has friends?" Ronon asked. He was kidding. Sort of.

"Just me," Biff said, also mostly kidding.

"Good to have friends with pools," Ronon decided, thinking they needed more pools places. "You know about the no strings rule?"

Biff debated lying about it, then finally admitted, "Nope. Does it apply to horrifying swimwear?"

"Exactly. If it's got strings, I don't wanna see it." Because assless penis holster swimwear was just terrifying.

"Does this apply to women's thongs, too?" Biff asked.
