Graduation Brunch: The Park, Sunday, mid-morning to mid-afternoon

A banner, the letters wrapped with fresh spring flowers, hung from the trees, spelling out CONGRATULATIONS, CLASS OF 2009! No missing letters or anything.

Spread out across the park were plenty of tables and chairs, some under the shade of picnic shelters, some out on the grass in the sunshine. For those who felt like getting back to nature, there were even red and white checked blankets spread out in a few areas for old-fashioned picnic-y goodness. Lack of ants not guaranteed.

The long table that ran along next to the picnic shelters was laden with a vast moddable array of traditional brillig-y food, including fruit, veggie snacks, breakfast pastries, sandwiches for the especially hungry or those who arrived more toward the unch end of brunch, and a wide variety of J,GoB-catered desserts. Drinks included coffee, tea, juices and soft drinks, and while there were plates provided, there were also wee picnic-basket-shaped trays for carrying things back to your seat, wherever that might be.

A space had been cleared for dancing, if people cared to do more than just listen to the light music being played through the speakers, and there was also an area set aside for outdoor games of croquet, horseshoes, or frisbee.

Everybody's welcome. Come celebrate with the Class of '09!

[OOC: Wait for the OCD. Don't make Eliza Doolittle have to cut a bitch. OPEN! And no one had to get cut! It's a good day!]

"Ocean, and apparently, stores," Sokka added. He wasn't really sure what Jeff meant, there, but that wasn't unusual. "Keep it together, buddy. You'll be okay."

Now he was going to have to find Turtle and HURT HER.

Romeo was quiet in his outrage.

Finally, he said: "Then perhaps it is a good thing she will have other friends near her, Father."

"Aw, I'm going to miss you too. I'm hanging around for the first part of summer though, so maybe we can hang out sometime?"

"I'm in the wrong time as it is," she nodded. "Though perhaps not 'wrong,' only different. I like moving to music, and I like moving in private when there isn't any music at all. I wouldn't have considered myself an angel; I feel far too earthy when I kill."

"Excellent! I shall have to come by some day and take a look."

"I'm kind of free," she laughed. "Except Wednesday's of course. What about Tuesday?"

"Really? Cool." Though honestly, he'd been hoping to have the day free, but oh well. "Well, I'll be there. Should be fun."

"Can't complain," he said, grinning. "Graduated, still alive, having a good time."

Juliano smiled a bit sadly. "I fear that his charm has blinded her to such concerns. They are young and in love and feel that, somehow, that must be enough."

"She is, in most other things, much more level-headed than this."

"Father, I have had some time to think since my visit," Romeo began. His posture was meek, but the set of his jaw was not. "The world extends beyond Verona's walls, as I was reminded before. If I take some business courses before returning home, I might be able to expand our family's reach -- and thus the city's happiness -- likewise."

"Only time will tell, I suppose, which of us is correct."

Juliano half-hoped it was Romeo.

"Seriously! I'll be at Stanford, can easily take over for you so you don't have to have a pretend long-distance thing," Nancy explained. "And for what it's worth, I always suspected John's military thing had something to do with liking men in uniform."

"Nothing's going to be okay," Jeff told the table (because it was the only thing in range of his mouth, at this point, "She's leaving."

That was really contributing to the conversation there, Jeff.

Triela's eyebrow rose even higher in amusement. "As if I didn't know who it was all along?"

Romeo took a swig straight from the bottle for himself, then compliantly filled her glass to the brim.

"He is not the kindest of men, for all he cares for you." That would be understatement -- uncharacteristic, perhaps, but they were in public.

"Johnny!" Ben yelled, having lost him in the crowd.

Benicio was not amused by this show and his jaw clenched slightly. "I would like to speak with you, Savannah. There are some matters that need to be discussed."

Zero swooped in, inasmuch as a tiny person in combat boots can swoop. It was more of a dart. "Aren'tcha gonna introduce us?"

"I've changed from one time to another and it meant little to me. The purpose is the same. Only the body has refined itself. Otherwise I would ask you to dance." She paused. "Who said angels aren't earthy? The celestial image is just a disguise. Dust to dust and all that. We had a jungle full of bodies."

Savannah was a bit confused, but she smiled at Johnny. She then frowned and looked at Benicio.

"Does it have to be right now, Papa Benicio? Johnny's celebrating his success in surviving high school."

Jaina thought if that was true, there'd be way more to his Jag issues than there really was. Though she'd be able to see his point; no one could look bad in a uniform.

The part she picked on was, "You're going to be at Stanford?"

She smiled. "Now I'm like an angel, but today I'm in disguise." An angel with large bony wings sharp as any knife.

Rikku laughed. "They should have put that on the sign. CONGRATULATIONS ON NOT DYING, CLASS OF 2009! It sounds like a downer, but really, that's something to celebrate, right there."
