Last day on the job meant Johnny was totally chilling. He sat behind the counter with a chocolate milkshake and tried not to be too thinky over things.

Savannah was there with an iced coffee for him.

"We need to do something special before you leave," she said by way of greeting as she sat across from him.

"Hey, sweetheart," he said, smiling at her. "I'd like that."

Savannah nodded. "Maybe a nice ride and a picnic on the beach or at the Arms or something?"

Because she would be damned if they weren't getting one special night together before he had to go home.

"I would like that, baby," he told her, reaching across the counter for her hand.

Savannah smiled, squeezing his hand. "Me, too," she said softly. "Give you a night to remember until we see each other again."

His eyes were warm but seemingly sad, on her face. "I remember every night with you."

Her eyes were sad, too, but she was trying to keep her smile for him. "I know, Johnny. Me, too. But, I'm still going to make sure you have a special night... and I'll try to wait at least two weeks before I start booking trips to come see you."

She made no promises about phone calls or anything else, though.

He was doing the same thing. Keeping up a semi-decent front so he didn't get upset or upset her. "I'm looking forward to it. Isn't there a dance this weekend?" he asked. "I'd like to take you."

His smile was cute. "I'll be counting down the days."

She smiled back. The being sad and breaking down would wait until he couldn't see it and get upset.

"I'd like to go with you," she nodded. "I even have a new dress."

He was hating it anyway because he knew she was going to do it. And he didn't want her to be alone.

"I love it when you get new dresses."

She wasn't going to let him think about it if she could help it.

"It's purple," she explained. "But there's a small problem with the top of it."

But he was thinking about it. It was unavoidable.

"Purple?" he said, impressed. "That color looks gorgeous on you. What's wrong with the top, sweetheart?"

She smiled and dropped her eyes. "I like purple... the dress uhm..." She met his eyes. "If I move too quickly it looks like I might fall out of it."

Oh. Was that all?

"So you can't wear it," he decided.

"I don't actually fall out of it, but it looks like I might."

She figured it was a good distraction for him.

"You don't want to see it?"

It was a definite good distraction.

"Oh, yeah, I want to see it. Privately. You can't wear anything in public if it looks like you're going to fall out of it."

Savannah smiled and slid him a photo (http://www.milak.org/gallery/displayimage.php?album=286&pos=5) that the girl at the store had taken for her.

"You mean like this?" She smiled. "I have a new black one, too. It's a bit shorter."

His tongue stuck a little to the roof of his mouth. "Damn you are beautiful," he whispered, staring at the photo. "Damn."

Blink.

"Black? Short?" Cough. "You, uh, have a photo of it too?"

"Wow... that's really hot," he said. He decided he was keeping both photos. Totally his right.

"You like them? Really?"

"Hell yeah, you're gorgeous. The gowns are too, but babe, you are... incredible. You're incredible in the gowns. I shouldn't tell you what I'm thinking right now."

"Do you?" he asked, arching a brow.

"I always do," she nodded seriously.
