Daisy had been craving dim sum an awful lot lately, which she was going to chalk up to a vague and subconscious homesickness and not even consider other possibilities, thank you. The craving did make it easy to decide where she and DiNozzo would meet for their First-Wednesday-of-the-Month lunch. Without her class, she spent the morning with Ralph working on shooting and then a bit of a patrol, although the town was pretty quiet with that field trip.

She got to the Chinese place a little early, grabbing them a booth and sipping on some tea before her colleague and the rest of it came along later.

"Started without me?" Tony asked, not having trouble finding her at all. It's not like this was a huge place, after all.

"Just the tea," said Daisy as she settled her cup down and giving DiNozzo a smile. "I did order, but that just means you'll not have to wait as long for the food. It all works out."

"We don't both have to drink tea, right?"

Daisy stared across the table. "No tea?" she asked.

"Look, I know you're very British, but in America, we like coffee."

"And you'll get plenty of that at the station," said Daisy. "Besides, this isn't a British thing; it's a Chinese thing. You have tea with dim sum, it's just a given."

"Couldn't I get a soda instead?" Tony DiNozzo. Petulant child.

"Do I get to fit in at least one comment about how soda is just empty calories and rots your teeth and that the caffeine makes it a diuretic so you're actually thirstier after you drink it than when you began?"

"You can," Tony granted her. "You know, I'm seeing a whole new side to you, Daisy."

Which was saying something, as DiNozzo had seen a lot.

"Oh, yeah? Which side is that, Special Agent DiNozzo?"

Work lunch. Team bonding. Passing the bill to Coop. Had to go with the titles.

"This health nut side," Tony replied. "Next thing you know, you'll be telling me to stop with the burgers and have carrot sticks."

"Well," said Daisy, "do you have a superhuman metabolism?"

"It's been called that."

There was a long, long pause.

"Shut up, you do not," said Daisy. "Really?"

"Stomach like iron."

"It's not fair," stated Daisy, shaking her head. "Practically everyone. I'm surrounded by people who seem to have amazing metabolisms. You'll notice how few fat people there are on this island? I had a girl in my class who probably ate candy bars every day for breakfast, and she's like stick."

Tony just smirked, leaning back in his chair. "Product of good genetics."

"Fat Chinese grandmother will be the curse of me," said Daisy.

"And dim sum," she noted, as some of the food was arriving.

Tony lifted his water glass to that. "Might as well enjoy it while it lasts!"

"And I guess," Daisy sipped her tea, "I shouldn't complain too much. It makes you all nice to look at."

"All of us?"

"All of you on hopped up metabolisms, be it genetics or Other Causes," Daisy explained. "You, Ben, Loki, Deadpool. Kowalski's got to have a secret, too. And I don't even want to think about how Coop does it. Have you seen how much pie that man shovels into his face?"

"I try not to pay attention to his eating habits," Tony admitted, starting for what looked like dumplings of some sort.

Daisy would actually bet money that Dale got so fat once he got married, but would keep it to herself, especially since she was getting some food for herself.

"Good idea," she finally said.

"His coffee consumption, on the other hand... that needs to be closely monitored," Tony replied, taking a bite.

"He can't be human," Daisy decided. "I don't care what his records say."

"Totally," Tony agreed, leaning forward. "Not even a marine."

"You're making fun of me," Daisy accused lightly, after matching his lean-in.

"Pay attention to Gibbs' coffee intake sometime," Tony insisted.

Daisy arched an eyebrow. "That bad?" she asked. "Now I'm tempted to assign some of the troopers to keep an eye on both of them and see who drinks more."

It was a small town where noting happened unless it was big. Daisy was getting better about finding little ways to entertain herself.
