"Stop talking, peasants!" Edward shouted above the kitchen help. "I wish to let you all know that this kitty--" He held Effy!kitty in the air to show her off, but quickly set her on the counter because ow, scratching. "--is under my care! You shall all treat her with kindness! If you don't, I shall run you through, ah-hahhhh." A beat. A grin. "Alright, I wouldn't. Lacey would not be pleased. But I will smack you if you dare to be mean to my kitty! Ahhh, and put tuna on the menu board, will you? She is hungry! And you there," he pointed, "bring her a saucer of milk!"

There was much sighing and the word 'unsanitary' mentioned. Edward simply scoffed. "I am quite sane, I assure you. Doubt me and I shall run you through!" He did enjoy saying that.

...

Smiling, he rubbed Effy!kitty's furry belly and let her have free reign of the diner. Mostly she kept to the counter, but was there even a hint of a scurrying rodent on the air, she would leap down and do some pretty impressive chasing.

Ahhh, the life of a kitty.
