GodCon: Friday Evening

It was your typical convention opener in Fandom. There was a registration desk with little stickers that said "Hi! My Name Is" and a little packets of information regarding the convention schedule. It talked about who was speaking when, when the free meals were available and some general information on the island in case any of the visitors wished to visit various parts of the island.

Of course you have to wonder how necessary some of things were since... Well the visitors to the island were FREAKIN' GODS!

Hopefully someone has informed the wait staff not to spill any drinks. Smiting could be an ugly thing.

[For those who are or wish to participate in God Con! Please wait for the OCD OCD is up! Please remember to smite only with OOC permission! And no ending the world! *wags finger* ]

Josh was far more amused by the name tags than he should have been. He scrawled "Yeshua" in Aramaic (then Latin, Greek, and English, just to be sure) and put it on his "What Would Jesus Do?" t-shirt.

It had been thousands of years since Josh had eaten decent Chinese food, so he was piling his plate high with it now.

...with a side of bacon. Shh. He was the Son, he could eat what he wanted.

Gabriel was having a really strong moment of deja vu, as he collected his packet.

When he decided to get the hell out of dodge after that big mess at the Elysian, he hadn't expected to find himself at another convention for gods. At least not this soon.

Still, it really couldn't end any more badly than the last one.

He hesitated over what name to write on the nametag, but with a mental shrug finally put "Gabriel/Loki" down. After everything that had gone down it wasn't like his witness protection wasn't blown all to hell anyway.

Gabriel made a beeline right for the dessert section and began piling his plate dangerously high with all things chocolate. Along with a good deal of whipped cream.

Saetan gave the nametags a dubious look, then shrugged and wrote his full name with a flourish.

Saetan Daemon SaDiablo.

Should he add his titles? Just stick to the relevant one? Eschew them all? He had no idea how the Protocol of this situation should work.

Fortunately, there was someone on the island who probably would.

*....Oh Karla,* he sent out on a distaff thread, psychic voice dark with amusement.

Gabriel looked over and snorted. "Seriously? Don't you think the shirt's a little over the top?"

Joshua's smile crinkled the skin around his eyes. "I like irony."

Spider adjusted his hat absently as he looked over the table of information. He took a nametag, lettered "Spider" on it in slashing capitals, and wandered away. There was nothing much to interest him here.

Food wasn't interesting just then. Alcohol was. Spider ordered something brightly colored and served in a glass filled with fruit, then sipped from it as he watched the group. Wine first; after that, the women and song would follow naturally.

He wondered if he should plan to sing tonight.

"It would read funnier if it said 'What Would I Do?'"

Moebius's accursed time vortex had spit him out into this desolate wasteland--

--desolate lobby wasteland--

--against Raziel's will. He frowned down at the desperate futility of the nametag, the inconsequential kitsch of the phrase 'Hi, my name is'.

He slid it onto the scrap of cloth that obscured his perfidiously absent jaw with a frown. "So this is where I am to be..."

"Good point, but I didn't see that at the store," Joshua admitted. "I did tell them I wouldn't spend twenty five dollars on merchandise. The girl behind the counter thought I was trying to be funny."

Raziel could not eat nor drink: this was a cruel joke, to be tolerated. Barely.

Sulking Pontificating over an empty plate, Raziel decided that this would be a reason for Moebius to pay dearly...

Jacob was happy to place a name tag on the lapel of his nice crisp suit. He preferred to be wearing the clothes he hand made on the island, but he understood the importance of fitting in and not drawing attention to himself.

Jacob took this chance to eat food that wasn't fish or mangoes. He didn't mind it most of the time, but it did get monotonous eating the same thing for hundreds of years.

And, lo, there was a very confused Karla showing up about twenty minutes later. Though she was definitely trying to hide the confusion under a bit of grumpiness. "Why are you at my school?" she asked, flatly. "A letter might have been nice."

Peter wondered if maybe Father McAnally had a sense of humor after all. Sending him to a religious retreat called GodCon. Anyway, he registered, and tried not to smirk at the idea of putting a sticky nametag on his priest shirt.

Hello, my name is
Father Peter Clifford

Peter did a double take at the young man. "Seriously?"

"And hello to you, too, Karla," Saetan said, his golden eyes crinkling at the corners. "Everyone is fine, thank you for asking. Why, yes, Mrs. Beale did send a box of treats with me, however did you guess?"
