Luke's Diner, Wednesday [12/8]

Lion-o was glad that he retrieved the Sword of Omens before setting off for work. It made it easier to cut through the goblins that challenged him along the way, though Lion-o was worried that the sword did not give him the normal warning before each goblin encounter. Still, it managed to get the job done and the diner and its occupants would be safe while he was on the job.

Who is keeping a wary eye on the door for unwelcome guests.

The staff will take good care of you while Lion-o is guarding the door.

Lion-o wasn't sure who put up the poster (http://www.netglimse.com/images/events/hanukkah/wallpapers/1_800X600.jpg), and he certainly didn't understand the meaning. But he thought it looked pretty.

Now I'm craving potato pancakes. Maybe I should make a trip to the Polish deli.

Hopefully Blossom would be a welcome guest?

She wasn't able to do much in this time of trouble, so she was simply going around to places un-gone and checking on people. As Blossom, just in case, yes.

"Lion-o! You're okay, right? I can't believe you came into work today! And you made the staff come in?"

"They were here when I arrived," said Lion-o with a shrug. "And people still need to eat, right? It's actually been pretty busy today. Everyone keeps ordering seconds on the doughnut holes."

What Lion-o hadn't realized yet was that people were staying and ordering more food because they didn't want to go back outside.

For once, Blossom hadn't actually paid attention to the specials. "Ooh? doughnut holes?" She took a seat and smiled at him. "I am glad to see you're okay, though. Usually I'm too busy until the invasion is all over, so I don't see you until everything is done."

"I'm managing to stay out of trouble so far," said Lion-o, getting a plate of doughnut holes in case Blossom wanted to try them. "How is it going out there? Those gremlins have been easy to deal with, but something seems to be clock the powers of the Sword of Omens. It's not giving me the usual warnings of trouble."

"Ah! Thank you!" She did indeed want to try them; Lion-o was an awesome friend for reading her mind like that!

"There's not much I can do to help out this time. I even tried to go into the maze and just ended up getting lost." Her voice revealed how upsetting it was to her that she couldn't do more. "Your Sword is saying that there's nothing wrong?"

"It's more like it's not saying anything at all, which has me even more worried," said Lion-o. "Under normal circumstances, I can feel a sort of reassuring presence from the sword, but now I'm not getting anything from it. I almost wonder if I can force it to respond by getting into more fights."

Blossom frowned and waved a doughnut hole at him. "You shouldn't do that! If you have a sword that only works because it hurts people, it's not a good sword!"

"Oh, I don't expect the sword to react by hurting people," said Lion-o. "Usually it will react to show me that I'm being an idiot if I put myself in danger."

"Good! If it did like hurting people, I would totally have to tell someone. that's just too dangerous! It's totally fine if it keeps you out of danger." Blossom chomped down on her doughnut hole and thought for a moment as she chewed. "Can I see it? I don't know much about magic, but I'm totally curious now. It's been a long time."

Lion-o glanced around, making sure that the rest of the staff was busy, before taking the sword out of the holster at his side. "I'm still trying to understand how it works, but what I know so far is that I can hear something in my mind when the sword wants to get my attention," he explained. "And see the holes in the hilt? They change shape sometimes, but I'm not sure why."

"You hear things... you mean like voices? Ah! Maybe it talks to spirits!" Talking to spirits, demons, and ghosts TOTALLY made more sense to her than magic. She bent a bit closer to see and poke at the hilt and the pretty stone. "And it can't get through right now? Like the phones?"

The stone, which resembled a cat's eye, chose that moment to widen as it peered up at Momoko.

"It's more like music than voices, with a trumpet fanfare when there's something dangerous approaching," said Lion-o. "But today I got jumped by at least four goblins without hearing a single note. And don't mind the Eye of Thundera. It scared me at first, but I've gotten used to it looking at me like that."

Blossom had indeed jumped as it changed shape, but mostly from surprise.

"Eh? It's alive?!" She pulled her hand back and nodded at the eye. "I'm sorry I poked you, Mr Sword! Thank you for keeping my friend Lion-o safe so many times!"

She looked back up at Lion-o. "Then maybe the goblins aren't dangerous enough for Mr Sword to worry about? You're a lot stronger now than you used to be, you know."

"They weren't so bad when it was just one, but when they teamed up, a weapon really helped," said Lion-o, reflecting on his battles earlier in the day. "I'll try it without the sword on my way back to the dorms and see what happens."

The Eye blinked at Momoko in acknowledgment, then went back to a passive state.

"I bet that's it. That there really isn't too much danger for you this time." Blossom nodded. "Don't be careless, though, just to test it, Okay? You totally have to still be careful out there."
